Default h22 turbo build

Ok so i've had this h22 motor for a good while all ready. I got eagle rods, mahle low compression pistons, block gaurd, built head, golden eagle intake manifold, and fuel rail. So what i want to know is if i run this set up with stock sleeves how many horses or what 1/4 miles times will i be able to get out of this set up?? Someone please help me out.

Friend of mine with a billet 5862 on like 23psi has an eagle/mahle drop in setup. On stock sleeves he made 488 (dynojet). But ive heard of people making over 600whp on stock sleeves. The factory H sleeve has been used in cars like the 911 turbo porsche for who knows how long. They are strong, the coating just doesnt allow for use with most off the shelf pistons. Thats why most people go with the mahles.

The 1/4 mile ET depends on so many variables its hard to tell. Make what u want and go run it.

It will be hard to run 9's on stock sleeves. If you want 9's id say sleeve the block. I run Darton sleeves and they have been good to me so far.

I do not think u can run the Mahle stock sleeve drop ins with an aftermarket sleeve.

i really want to sell the single cam setup i had plan and just build the h22 but what do you all think. i want to do the h22 setup more then the d16 setup cause of the torque but once again what do you all think? by the way both setup up are going to be identical, good interials with stock sleeves.

I think that the H22A has always shown a bit more risk than with their sleeves than most of the B-series. Either way, even with pistons and rods, trying to push into "10s" and "9s", is beyond risky. Asking us how long it will hold with the right things invested in the car, without putting all the right components in, is asking us to look through a crystal ball of probabilities. The answer is that no one knows. We could sit here and talk about our friend's brother's sister's cousin's nephew's car and discuss how long or little it held, but it still doesn't gauge the true nature of a proper sleeve, and tune, and hope for the best. When you want to push these levels of power and "Low ETs", the more you're going to risk breaking something..period.

Why risk it? Stop dancing around, here... Get sleeved.. get it done..If you can risk going that fast, you shouldn't risk getting the full setup right. If not, then be realistic, change your expectations of "fast", and have the car survive a little longer.

Loose the block guard, go with eagle rods and mahle pistons. The setup should be good for 500hp, if not more. Its really all in the tune, I'm not saying it can't happen though, but I've rarely seen an h22 crack a stock sleeve. We're building a few similar setups next year on stock sleeves and should be pushing over 500hp.

If you go with sleeves, go with JE pistons. The mahle pistons are designed to work with the stock sleeves.

By no means is 9's an easy number to hit, but if you look at some of these all motor guys running 9's and the power there pushing, it defiantly is doable, not easy, but doable. All about getting the car dialed in and how good the driver is.

what kind of H? you can't put a blockguard on closed deck H.. and open deck H sleeves are like b series so no need for mahle gold series.
Save some money for aftermarket sleeves with je pistons and eagle rods combo.
If your gonna take the block apart might as well get everything new. just .02 cents
good luck,

good luck,
its a open deck h22a4. when i had first bought this motor i didn't know much about h series motor and how h22a and a1's are close deck and h22a4 are open deck, i also didn't know that you just run any brand of pistons on a h series. well the main reason i had purchused the motor was cause i didn't what to be like most people and run a b series motor, i also got the motor cause i had got it for $800 with a golden eagle intake manifold, golden eagle fuel rail, complete motor and trans, hasport motor mounts, and stage 3 clutch. once i bought the setup, about a month later i had ordered eagle rods, mahle pistons( this is when i had reliazed i couldnt run any pistons with stock sleeves), and complete valvetrain, i then got the head built. anyways so i already have the mahle pistons so thats the main reason i wanted to know how much hp stock h22 sleeves can handle?

once again thanks for the help guys. i really appricate it alot. now im more then likely goin to part away with the single cam build and just build the h22 with stock sleeves and hope for the best. i have now realized that i cant accomplished 9's without aftermarket sleeves and some other stuff, but if i can atleast get 10's out of it i will be happy.

Open deck h22's still utilize the frm sleeves so mahle pistons still must be used.

Also more information about the h22 sleeves

As for power, on stock sleeves, if built and tuned right, I wouldn't worry about hitting 500hp if not more.
