Re: H22 turbo (exh22)
I dont think I would trust stock pistons on that much boost, but I would trust mahle pistons and either shot peened rods or aftermarket

Re: H22 turbo (HeikDiesel)
Sleeve it, get forged pistons/rods, and arp headstuds.
DOn't skimp any areas on a nice build. If anything you want a little overkill for safety/insurance.
The LAST thing you want is a rod snapping or a head bolt breaking on your expensive turbo build.

Re: H22 turbo (ek forever guy)
I dissagree. I don't know to much about H22 but I do know some what about Boosted GSR motors. A buddy of mine has 600whp on his stock internals.
Could it be done? Yes. Are you better off going the safe route then yeah build that beast.
I beleive with keeping the boost low with a good setup and a amazing tune, it could be done. H22's have good power as it is.
Ek Forever guy is right about the ARP Headstuds.

Re: H22 turbo (exh22)
Are you experienced in turbochargers? Or are you new to the turbo world?
EDIT: Here's a link to a Bone Stock GSR Dyno sheet. http://forums.evans-tuning.com...=4065
And yes, I understand about the gas.
If the mods or anyone else would like me to take this link off I will.

Well being a Newb to the scene I'd just get a basic turbo. Just to get your hands wet. You will learn a lot from that. If you are unexpeirenced it will take you a while to learn the tricks of the trade to reach 400hp.
If you boost that motor no matter what in that coupe you will be satisfied. Any particular reason for shooting for 400?

Re: H22 turbo (exh22)
Try reading up on a T3/T4 57mm trim turbo. Theres so many options out there. I know if you ask this in the Forced Induction section you will get a great answer in no time.
They have lots of experience there.
Good Luck.

Re: H22 turbo (exh22)
the most a stock internal h22 will handle is about 9psi with a GREAT tune 7-8 to be safe or about 330hp. sleeving is a must. You will need to sleeve because of the FRM cylinder walls, you cant run forged pistons without sleeving. Update everything, you'll be happier in the long run.

You're clearly a turbo noob. Engine reliability on boost is determined by whp, not psi.
9 psi on a small DSM turbo is WAY different than 9 psi on a t3/t04 60 trim.
About a difference of 40-60whp.

you could make 400whp on a stock internal h22 but most likely wont last too long you want too build the motor for boost so it will last

Clearly.
The h22 has very strong sleeves, it's the ring lands that have issues with boost.

you were comparing psi to the safety of a stock h22 block. psi isnt what matters when boosting its the actual whp that is made. you cant just say stick with 7-8psi and youll be safe. if he has a t25 he can crank it up past 12psi and hed be fine. but with something like an SC61 he wouldnt.
