alright thanks i did some searching...and i found out that yes it does use it but i have a t3t4 now and it only was running oil...and i am buying the gt35r now for and upgrade cuz i just finished my motor...ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO POST PICS..i still dont know how
yes, unless you want the heat from the turbine wheel to transfer down the shaft and melt the plastic cage around the ball bearings...the turbo will not last long with no water cooling, it is possible to do it on the smaller frame turbos but we and garrett would never warranty it if a CHRA was fried because of no water cooling.

Hey now, my GTP38R has the water ports blocked from Garrett, and its a ball bearing! 
They better warranty it if it fails, my stock bushing turbo had 100k on it when I removed it, and its still in good shape!
