Default GSR T3 .42/.48? Inovative discussion inside.

I have a chance to get one of thses local for just over 100 and it has under 1200 miles. I know, I know, T3 is too small...go with T3/04 .57......before you ask let me tell you my goals:

Street use only, no drag racing.
I would think the T3 would be the best for street(stop light to stop light) application because it spools quick...unlike drag racing where you need the most power at redline.

not planing on seeing redline much
that being said. if the T3 loses power up top, that doesn't bother me too much...my only concern it that it might lose power TOO early....

Wheel spin problem?
One thought I had is that if the T3 spools so quick wheel spin could be a problem...in that case plans would call for a larger turbo will that won't spool up so quickly...T3/04...something like that.

If you have have a T3 .42/.48 on a stock GSR please tell me how you like it. I'm not trying to talk myself into buying the T3 and I'm not tying to talk myself out of it....I DO want some feedback on my three points from those who have had this setup. Thanks.

Ok, I run the exact turbo on my b16a. BONE STOCK motor. I love the quick *** spoolup and the turbo does not die "too" early, it does fall on its face around 7.5-8k but it has GREAT midrange power absolulty unbelievable for a turbo that small. ITs cheap, fast, and you can run 14-15 psi on it with little problems b/c it doesnt make gobbs of HP. Its a decent turbo in my opinion.

Why even create a post? Sounds like you already made your mind up. Stop talking and just boost it.

the only downside is if its the goofy mopar one it has that offset bolt on the turbine housing. so when you DO want more power its going to be a PITA to switch

you may want to spend the extra 200 or so and start with a standard flanged T3..

you can probably get a decent used t3/t4 for 300 bucks off of the classifieds..

No I did read your thread completely. Here's the deal, that turbo is WAY too small for a GSR motor, you should defintely go with a bigger turbo. I know it's a daily driver, no drag racing, blah blah blah... that turbo doesn't fit your motors powerband at all. From reading your posts it looks like you have already made your mind up that your using the turbo, so stop talking about it and boost it.

Oh and why would you want to hear advice from random people you don't know off honda-tech? Just because Joe Blow has a GSR with a small T3 turbo setup that he likes, doesn't mean he knows what he is talking about.

Too small imo. Yes it will spoolup great, but top end its gonna fall on its face. You can go with a little bigger turbo and still have great streetable power.

i think he is also concerned with price and in that reguard the t3 will definatly excell. But if money is not an issue, then i would highly reccomend a t3/t4 or larger.

I built my prelude for the same reasons you did... I'm running a B20A on a straight T3 and it falls off after 5500 (i red line at 6500).

My tq is basically flat from 2500+ which is sweet. cruising around lag is nearly 0.

That being said, i have to agree with the others; get one if nothing else, slightly bigger. With vtec (which i don't have) and the additional rpms it would really be a dog in vtec.

Perhaps you should consider a super 60?

For my setup its pretty sweet and its exactly what i wanted...for you, get one slightly larger.

a super 60 would work great
its good for around 320 whp and would be spooled by 3500-3800 rpm's and hold power to redline

i think you can put the .60
cold side on it with minor mods and that seems to work
