Default GSR nitrous question?????

So i got a b18c1 jdm, with about 45k, bolt ons: Headers, intake, 2.25 piping, skunk2 manifold, msd ignition, flywheel, stg 2 clutch, all stock internals! Im debating in stayin all motor or squeezin. Im debatin cuz i love that engine and dont want to *** it up, so ive been recommended zex kits, so thats what i want to go with. Now my question is wet or dry (whats direct port)? whats the pros and cons? and the very improtant question, how many shot? remember i dont want to blow my ****! Thanks for all the help guys!

frist off dont go with a zex kit they suck cuz they ar controled by a brain and its suppost to keep the n20 and the fuel mix good to keep it from blowing your motor but ive seen 4-7 motors go out that way with a zex kit on it.

If you want a good kit go with a n/x kit and if your not going to tune for n20 then get a wet spot and the n/x kit comes with a book that tells you what pills to put in to keep it safe.

a 50 shot is good for your motor and put a bottle warmer and a gauge beleive me you need it.

wet kits are always the most safe
direct port is where you have 1 nozzle for each intake runner, and is usually tapped into on the bottom or top of the intake manifold

dry kit= injects only nitrous through 1 nozzle mounted on the intake tube
wet kit= injects both fuel and nitrous " " "

depends on how crazy you are...

a 50 shot would be safe. then again i'm not really a safe person, so i decided to push a 100 shot.

to make a 50 shot safe
1 step colder plugs
you can retard the timing 2* but its really not necessary on a 50 shot
p.s. its' not essential to have a bottle warmer, but to make you kit entirely complete you would need one.

be sure not to run bottle pressure too high i.e. 1050+psi per NX recommendations.

awesome guys, keep it comin! so #1 got with n/x instead of zex, #2wet kits are safer #3 never run bottle pressure to high, not past 1050psi, so 50 shot or 75 or maybe 65? what you guys think?

I say go for the 75, but you may want to over-torque your head studs by a few lbs. imo this will help prevent the possibility of blowing your HG. Be very careful, keep an eye on your plugs after every run to make sure you're not detonating....even with only slight signs of detonation, you can count on your rings cooking in there...pull your timing back like the other guys said and make sure you run it a little rich which is why I said to not run your bottle pressure too high..900-950 psi is safer in my opinion and PLUS, I would definitely upgrade your fuel pump if your havent done so already.

i ran a 100 shot dry from a zex kit on my bone stock JDM GSR, never had a problem and the motor is currently turbo making 350WHP still juist as stock and it still runs great.

car went 12.7@111 on spray only I/H/E.

i woudl def recommend a bottle heater, spraying at 600PSI (unheated bottle) is nothing like spraying at 1000PSI (heated bottle).

theres nothing wrong with spraying a completely stock motor. I just mentioned those things as suggestions because I have experience with nitrous myself and I blew a head gasket with only minimal signs of detonation so the risk is definitely there...

i think i put about 6 bottles through it. 100 shot revving to 8500 on a bone stock motor. it compression tested 240 across after i took it off. GSR motors take abuse like champs. i sprayed bottom of 2nd to the top of 4th, and a couple times i sprayed into 5th for a bit because the tranny was geared so short. i dont recommend spraying in 5th but i didnt really care at the time.

very easy. unscrew the lines and out the new jet in, screw the line back on. probably about 2 minutes tops.

Bottle doesn't have to be empty. If the is solenoid closed, no n2o will be in the line between the solenoid and the spray nozzle. You should always close the bottle valve anyway when working on the system.

I would start at a low shot like 50hp then work your way up. That way you can get some experience tuning the nitrous, and if you make a mistake your motor might live. If you make a mistake on bigger shots your motor doesnt stand a chance. Check your A/F's when you tune it, and your plugs. Do your homework before you even think about trying to tune it your self.

If you can find someone in town that can help you would be the best. Thats how I learned starting low and working my way up with a friend that had some experience. Good luck to you. Im sure you wont have any problems if you do your homework and it sounds like you are.
