Greddy TD04 vs. TD05 vacuum source design change...WHY??
I've read about some people who actually tap their TD05H-18Gs to get better wastegate response to help resolve spiking, instead of running a line all the way to the intake manifold in it's stock configuration. The TD04 is completely different, and has a shorter line:
I haven't heard of anyone with the EX kits running into problems with boost spike or creep problems when upgrading the downpipe to 2.5 or 3. Ok, I'll admit I didn't do a search but it seems like it doesn't happen with that kit.
Why did Greddy change their design for the TD05s and would their be any disadvantage to tapping the turbo similar to the TD04?

Thats the way I re-routed my vacume feed for my TD05-14b and I have a 2.5" DP. I never had any boost spikes last year, only those from my home made boost controller.......................yikes.

I guess that's going to happen no matter what if you have an internal wastegate. Oh well! I e-mailed Greddy and they suggested I tap into the charge piping right after the intercooler and didn't respond to my other questions. Why would they change the design?
