greddy stock boost?
if i am not mistaken, the greddy 15g turbo that comes with the sohc is set at 5 psi. when i am at full boost, the gauge reads at about 6.5 psi. I didn't have a boost controller set up at the time and i have a type 31 greddy intercooler. it belongs on the si but i modified it to fit. any help would be appreciated.
my question is that has anybody had this problem? is it because i have an intercooler? i am stumped. the kit is mounted on a d16y8.

it's just stock piping with an apexi n/a muffler. i am upgrading to a 2.5" cat-back in the future. it holds boost but i don't understand why it's maxing out at 6.5 psi.

Technically, the addition of the intercooler should have lowered your PSI... I think people running the 18g kits run about 6.5psi, but when that intercooler is added drops to about 5.5psi...

your sig says you're running the TurboXS boost controller. perhaps when you installed it, you adjusted it slightly so that it increases boost and didn't realize it? just a thought. . . .

i think that might have happened, but i followed the directions to tighten the screw all the way so that no boost is showing up but i will check it.

MROD....I have the same setup as you...I have an exhaust....greddy kit on my sohc d16z6 with blue box and rest is all stock...you are only supposed to get 5.5 psi as the book says but you can gain up to 7....this happens on all kits...i have a greddy profec b boost controller...it does not matter if i don't have the boost controller installed...i still get 7psi...i installed the bc and now i can level it to lower psi's...if i turn it up i can go as high as 7 again....i don't know why the manual says 5.5 when you can go 7psi...maybe they made a mistake with writing the manual but thats what it will give you...and i run 4 psi daily and 7 on weekends...the car handles great and i have not had any problems...i got all of my information from steve at turbocivic.net...he is a great person to ask questions about this kit since he has one himself and I did the install from his directions because greddy's directions suck...so that extra boost you have is boost the kit can deliver...i see it as a plus.......and my gauge works fine..im sure yours does also...

Re: greddy stock boost? (incognitoracerr)
yeah, it maxes out at about 7psi. I don't boost too much but i will probably kick it up on my mbc to 7.5. or might lower it for piece of mind. thanks alot. i was stressing about this all day.
