greddy kit vs. jackson racing
Hey guys i was just curious as to what you guys thought about this.... What would put down more power on a SOHC vtec engine... a complete greddy turbo kit or a jackson racing supercharger... Since they both boost around 6lbs would they very similar in power... also the tdo4 is a pretty small turbo so, i was just curious to know what you guys thought TIA..... oh and i'm not going for oh my god fast i'm just looking for a little more power and still street legal... TIA

go with the greddy b/c you will be able to up the boost later very easily and run a fmic to boost safely.
if you are going jrsc...which will be fun, but you will have to replace the pulley and readjust the belt to up the boost. if you're going that route get one of the lht style jrsc. they come with a water to air intercooler in the intake manifold.

Re: (92boostn'hatch)
Just my opinion but TURBO = superchargers = , because honestly, we just haven't had any good luck with them... Once your IAT gets above ~140 degree F you're screwed... With Jackson non intercooled units we've measured the IAT at over 200 degrees F... Just my $0.02 again... Good Luck

I maxed my greddy kit out before I sold it at 250 wheel power. I used a greddy FMIC with it. But any ebay $250 fmic will work (ones that are made by someone not some starion one).. If you dont; get a fmic then you will be running 5 lbs on the stick kit. I knwo of a place that can get you the complete sohc greddy with the large fmic for like $2250+ shipping.
http://www.alamoautosports.com I got my kit from them long ago about 3 yrs ago actually. They are a large shop in texas and doo awesome work. They can help you with anything you need.
HP numers onthe kits.
stock greddy w/o fmic =5lbs 150 wheel power
greddy kit with fmic =7lbs 180-190 wheel power
If you want to go above 7 lbs I recommend you get a 255 intank fuel pump, a adjustable FPR a boost controller, and some prelude vt-ec injectors (vigora and nsx use the same injectors too) you can have the greddy blue box reprogrammed to run 10-12 lbs of boost as well. That woudl be good to like 220+ wheel power.

Re: (oscarmayer)
Take a look at average dyno #'s. A stock SOHC with an intercooled GReddy kit can see 150whp +/- no problem, JRSC kits struggle to make 140whp with all the bolt-ons. As you up the boost, it only get's uglier for the JR unit. The blower used on the SOHC's is just too inept and develops ALOT of heat.. personally, turbo for me
