MSD ignition w/turbo?
Which MSD ignition setup is best for turbo?
Would this be a good setup?
MSD 6aL
MSD Rotor Cap
MSD Blaster 2 coil
MSD wires
Or would it be best to go with the MSD SCI ignition box? Im not sure if its ture, but I have a friend who bought MSD 6a. Before buying it he talked to a MSD rep who said there is no difference in the MSD 6a and MSD SCI. He said they just did it to better market it to the import cars.

I honestly would take all that MSD nonsense out. It's not really necessary until you are getting serious misfire because of such high levels of boost (harder to jump a gap across really dense mixture). For a street turbo kit the stock ignition is great.

its true the SCI ignition is just a rebadged MSD with a greater mark up. You should look into the MSD 6 digital. while it maybe more expensive it comes with a lot of good features that you'll appreciate in the future. people also tell me that it kicks out a lot more juice than a standard msd 6A, putting out almost or near what the msd 7 does.

MSD 6BTM (to retard timing) or MSD6aL
Blaster SS coil
dist. cap and wires
better yet... get yourself a J&S or Hondata

MSD Digital-6
MSD HVC (high voltage coil)
trust me on this one...your car never ran smoother, plus you can play with the timing for boost, etc...

Re: MSD ignition w/turbo? (smoothludey2)
msd 6al cause it has an ignition based rev limiter (very important to bounce off of in 1st gear and sometimes second when you have high power)
blaster 2 coil cause it rocks
and you can modify the distributer yourself its easy, two holes, take some poo poo out, solder a couple wires, seal it up and your set

if you have the hondata you don't need the BTM unit. the 6al is what i bought since it offers the rev limit ignition cutoff (hondata won't do that).
get the Blaster SS coil and dist. cap.

So Hondata can provide more spark? It has a built in spark amplifier? If not, I'd still get the MSD unit if you want a bigger spark.

Re: MSD ignition w/turbo? (Rob92SC)
no, the hondata doesn't affect the ignition at all....he's saying you can use the hondata to tune out detonation instead of retarding ignition with the BTM. By all means get the MSD....
