Default Going to track today.....need input

Hey guys going to track today to finally test my car. I just wanted to see if anyone can give me some words of wisdom or advise. I haven't raced at SEARS or INFINEON since 1997, so to say the least it has been a while.

I am running on GAY street tires since I couldn't find any slicks to borrow.

Power: 350 WHP
Boost: 15lbs
Civic 92 Hatchback

What should I REV. at?

Should I just roll off since I won't have any traction?

What PSI should I bring my front tires down to?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Every car and track is different. 350whp on street tires is a waste of time IMO. Wait till you have slicks before you go tear up something.

Yes I know I won't have traction, but this is the only window of opportunity I have with the wifey to get out to the track.

I'll take what I can get....ahahhahaah

Just because you have a chance to run it doesn't mean you should. You'll have tons of wheelhop, no traction, and chances are good your break something and you'll still not have a good time.

he'll break stuff on slicks long before he does on street tires.

You can still get good times if you just practice. Put your street tires at 15psi. Don't burn 'em out, just dust 'em off. Overheating them is bad.

Feather it but don't lean on it too much. You're just gonna need the driver mod and get a feel for it. Don't dump the clutch or you'll just waste your time at the track.

That is what I was thinking. I have seen several posts on here where people still hit 12's on street tires. Never broke anything.

Should I even pre rev. at like 2-3K or just walk it off the line and then push it around 6-7K.

I guess I will have to play with pedal pressure as the day progresses to see what works best.

Wish me luck. I'll post times later today what I hit and if I broke anything...hopefully NOT!!

Your 100% wrong. Once you drive a car with any kind of power on slicks and street tires you can give info on the subject. Until then, don't.

I don't understand how you can argue that if you're spinning like a **** you're going to break something.

Traction kills the weak parts, and you won't have traction with street tires so I don't see how you can say that.

If he wheelhops and breaks something that's on him for not having a good suspension.

bingo. I've never seen people break parts at the track on street tires, nor have I ever done that.
Slicks are a completely different story. You go from 0 stress on axles/trans/clutch to nearly full torque on the axles as instant traction is obtained. That's when breakage occurs.

Ok so here is what happened. I started at 15 lbs of boost and hit a 13.9 with NO TRACTION whatsoever.

Did I metion my reaction time was .876 and my 60' 2.254.

Hit: 13.9 1/4 mile

It kept getting worse since I couldn' t figure out how to put power to the ground. I even ran a 14.7 at one point. I almost gave up.

Then I decided to lower boost down to 12lbs and bring tires down to 20 psi.

BANG: I git a 13.254 and even then I was still losing traction.

In the end that was my best time: 13.234 with several runs in 13.3

My trap was very consistent at 112 MPH.

It was fun to say the least. 90% of the people there had street tires and went to have a good time and talk CAR.

This way we don't go racing on FRIDAY nights doing stupid things.

Good times...

If you believe that garbage you obviously have no clue how to race. Slicks don't get instant traction, they spin. Breakage occurs when you don't preload or from wheelhop which will occur even with the best suspension on regular street tires.
