General Turbo Type R question...
I have previously boosted my old '98 EX and my old '00 Si both w/ Greddy turbo kits. I liked their reliability and ease of install, simplicity etc. SO my question is this: I am going to do a custom turbo kit on my Type R this time around and was wondering if the following will work safely:
-MaxRev custom manifold, Turbo, Downpipe
-Tial Wastegate(6-7psi)
-Missing link Check valve
-Walbro intake fuel pump
-Vortech 12:1 FMU
-Drag FMIC
Everything else will remain stock, I'm mainly curious about just the general functionality, reliability etc. for the time being. The future will include Exhaust, injectors etc...
Thanks for any information on the subject.

If you keep the boost down at like 5-6psi you should be straight with that set-up. I wouldnt go over 6psi without a standalone and some bigger injectors of some sort. People have claimed to run like 10psi on the ITR engines with no problems, but that was tuned perfectly. You really have to worry about upping the boost with your compression. Now if we only had 110 octane gas cheap at every pump.....
type r turbo make great power ,i have a b18c5 turbo (greddy gsr kit)running 8 psi i can tell you its very fast ,i have stock internal whit msd and upgrade fuel pump whit medium intercooler and upgrade downpipe 2.5 inch no cat
intercooler is a must cuz you have hight compression and it will sure knock
good luck

from all the info ive gathered on previous posts, i would not run the walbro intank pump...id look into a bosch inline. Im willing to bet a B18C5 w/ the garret supplied with the maxrev mani will flow quite a bit up top...i dont think the walbro will hang.

The bosch pump is better if you are running a rising rate regulater like your 12:1, but with larger injectors and standalone the walboro is overkill till very high boost levels. I would just stick to getting a walboro 255lph pump if you are just planning on running your fuel set-up for a short time and upgrading to 440's and standalone.
Get a standalone. Do it right. You have a Type R, don't put a cheesy fuel setup on your car.
I have a type R and run Hondata. I have had ZERO problems. I boost 1 bar.

I'm also doing a R turbo setup soon....lower you compression with a thicker head gasket...I'm lowering mine by a full point, but I'm still going to be pretty high 'cause I'm running like 11:1 now.
In your case, I would even consider a different fuel system (hondata w/ larger injectors seems to be the general trend here)

Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate it.
I did forget to add that I will most likely go w/ a lower compression head gasket too. I'm also in Colorado so I'm at a high elevation all the time if that matters at all. So if I don't go standalone right away, are there any recomended intank pumps? I want to stay away from inline if possible, I ran those on both of my previous boosted cars and want to move away from them.
Thanks again.
