Default general boosting question(CONTINUED)

I didn't really make myself clear last time i posed my motor is a b16 running pauter rods, not sure about the pistons because I'm not positive if I'm going to sleeve or not. AEM computer, RC 550's msd BTM.

question was I'm lookin for about 15-18 psi out of this setup. is that possible. never ran over 10 psi before just wanted to make sure. would a blockguard help out here??? anything that I am missing.

I'm pretty much doing the same thing as you are. I went ahead with the JG blockguard from importparts.com. For $100 you can't go wrong.

You should be able to get 15-18psi, especially since you also have the EMS from AEM.

I'm running:
JE 9.2
Eagle rods
RC 440's
S-AFC (poor man's fuel management)
MSD BTM coming in a few days
and a bunch of random other stuff

If you are going to sleeve, you can definitely go 18+....if not sleeving and a blockguard, you can hit 15-18 safely.

even the old one made a mistake in his article, block guards are not made to prevent detonation they are made to support the cylinders when detonation occurs, hopefully keeping them from cracking. that thing cannot prevent it, it may actually encourage detonation, depends what skool of thought your from, some say it conducts heat away from the cylonders, some say it traps.

Exactly. Block Guards are there to prevent the cylinder bores from shifting around -- NOT to prevent them from cracking. If you're detonating with a Block Guard, you have much bigger problems than removing it would solve.

You can prolly go up to about 12-14 psi w/ blockguard and right tuning of EMS w/o sleeving... but if you have the $$, get it sleeved and go all the way hombre ! 15+psi, maybe even 18+ w/ the right fuel upgrades !
