Default GASKETS GASKETS GASKETS ???

Ive heard from some people that you dont need a gasket between the manifold and the exhaust side of the turbo? is this true of no.
rumors have it is that the gasket will burn up, and the metal is flat enough not to need one? anyone running gaskets or no?

im sure not everyone uses one but i would recommend you get one. you dont want an exhaust leak prior to the turbo, that will create more lag / not allow you to attain proper boost levels.

these gaskets are made of metal and will not "burn up" and the mating surfaces should be perfectly flat but i just feel better having a gasket to ensure a proper seal. they are only like 10 bucks anyways.

i recopmmend to not use a gasket, just check and make sure both sealing surfaces are flat. I always do a thin wipe with some high temp sealant.

any reason for not running a gasket...not saying your wrong cause im sure many people do it without any problems. just seems like there aren't any downfalls to using a stainless steel gasket. someone correct me if im wrong.

there are no downfalls to using a gasket.

but not using one, it may not leak but can. not too big of a deal, but mine was sort of loud at idle.

you say it was loud at idle due to an exhaust leak from the manifold? thats kinda my point, you dont want any leaks prior to the turbo, that will hurt performance.

I wasnt running any gasket last year. From what Ive read it was supposed to be fine but it wasntnt. It wasnt leaking relly bad but there was some black spots on my turbo housing and especially from the wastegate.

I bought some gasket now... why not it will just seal better. For the wastegate ask for those who have the metal ring. The usual gasket arent tought enought.
