Boy howdy! I am replacing the exaust manifold gasket and I was wondering if it is recommended to use "Copper Spray" on the new gasket (similar to head gasket).

Vehicle is a 1997 Civic CX 1.6 no VTac.

Not necessary, but not going to hurt either I suppose.

I've never used it except for the head gasket. Never used spray, but always have used the brush-on copper sealer. The only thing on the exhaust I've used sealant on has been the turbo to downpipe, in which case I used hi-temp gasket sealer as there was no gasket, not copper sealer.

So... pretty much depends on what you want to do. lol

i've used it on the intake manifold -- you're not going to hurt anything using it and it would suck to put it all back together only to have a vacuum leak. there's really no downside to using it with the exception of having to scrape the old gasket off next time you take it all apart.

would a copper gasket work?

Im doing a header install and looking for options, peeling off the gasket if I have a leak or ever change sounds like a pain, also bumping this to not start a new thread.

copper or oem style gasket for header?

OEM Honda gasket....just slip it on nothing else needs to be done.

OEM or Cometic. Done. Torque to proper spec. Don't add anything to it.
