Default which gasket?

this is the main reason i'm loosing power. big *** leak out the back of the mainfold and turbine inlet as you can see. (and yes the turbo was bolted up good, just over time the gasket failed) to the left i have two gaskets, a kinda aluminum paper one and a stainless steel crush one, which one is better? (i never used the aluminum paper one before)

That's what I always use, I've never had any issues.

You might also want to check and make sure your flanges aren't warped at all, slight warpage could have caused that leak.

the manifolds are pretty much brand new (500-800miles) and the turbo has about 2k, i'll check for warps.

Never had a problem with the stamped steel ones. I've actually been reusing the same one for several years. Usually that connection doesn't need a gasket, but I just run one to be safe. If you're getting that big of a leak, your flanges may be warped, or your manifold flange wasn't machined flat after welding.

What type of manifold?

Theoretically you shouldn't even need to use a gasket between the turbo and manifold flanges, as both flanges should be machined perfectly flat.

Two flanges are not "just like a head and block". I've, as well as many other people, have and haven't used gaskets and there have been no bad results.

i replace them everytime with the stamped gasket but this was the first time i had a leak out the back and don't really know why. they're rld mani's and a turbonetic t3/t4. perhaps i didn't tighten them evenly? i replaced it today, hopefully it doesn't do the same thing. too bad it's rainning so i can finish it off with a test drive.

now that the leak is taken care or, it's like fuel cutting on me at around 4000rpm. i've been running this crome pro base map for two weeks and was fine, then on one hot day took it for a spin and it felt weak as hell. pulls up to 4000 and then stalls and boggs for a few seconds still slowly going up in rpm up to about vtec and then pulls good after that. what should i look for? sounds like mis firing or something, it's raining again and i'll deal with it tomorrow.
