Yeah.

I have changed 5 trannys in Vw's this year... it always seems like the shifter fork assy gets demolished somehow... sometimes with just loosing 1 gear at a time.. but it gets nutty.

Yeah... but I believe the K03 would be cool... my BOV stays open when under vaccum (1/2 way open) so it won't let boost build. Also... the turbo spools in a 1.8T at about 3K... sometimes 3.5K... so i dunno.

I think hooking it to the stock mani would be the best route to get it hooked up... it should be easy enough.

I haven't pulled the ricer up since the part-out yet... I still need to mount the intercooler up so I can test fit the peices of piping and figure out where I need to cut and which peices are a direct fit.

Also I need to dig up a stock DX exhaust manifold to start the test-fit and designing of the K03 mount for it. Lots of work ahead.. but I think before the K03 I will be just slapping a new T3 onto it; with the intercooler setup and my BOV mounted up.

More TBA!

i myself have under 150.00 in my setup so far (mainly by luck and knowing the right people )

14b and dsm BOV - 100.00
EG IC piping and Godspeed i/c - free (bro inlaw got shipped 2 kits and i traded an injector resistor box for it )
mani - got an airplane mechanic to build one (trade off for an OBX lsd for b series , i also got 100.00)
injectors - dsm 380s found in junkyard for 10.00
gm 3 bar map sensor - 20.00 family

the only things i have left to get are a clutch , fuel pump and wastegate . (welding up internal gate on 14b ) - 500-600 for all of that but i have a complete turbo kit , nice spec clutch , tial wastgate and walbro 255 fuel pump for under 800.00 i cant do any better than that

Ok, after doing the 60,000 mile service on the work truck, we pulled the ricer up, hooked the exhaust back up, and I ripped the bumper off to test-fit the intercooler and see what piping I could use and not use.

I was able to route almost 1/2 of the piping with the jetta bends, the left over peices are going to be cut up into peices that would work. Some will have to be purchased and bent but whatever.

The section with PVC for mock up is actually going to be where I mount the BOV... I will put a flange on a piece of steel pipe and be putting it in it's place.

The intercooler fits nicely, however I did have to remove the bumper... so now I need to figure out some sort of mount or bracket to hole the IC in place... it is held in with some plastic weed eater wire.

I am still going to consider the K03 setup if I get a stock DX mani to mount it to, but I need to get myself a T3... for sure I will be doing that soon.

I have the fittings and oil lines, so nothing to worry about there.

Ok, it's late.. work is early... more pics to laugh at!

You need to get an education before you even attempt to finish your setup..

Ive tried typing other tips but i think they will be useless. You should just get into another hobby that takes little knowledge, like collecting stamps.. because building cars is not in your future.

haggard to the max... and for reply... well, sorry, I thought you were going with what he said... not the other way around... my bad...

Anyways... yeah. I see the point now.. it seems less blind you might say =P

Anyways... I am back at the workshop, and have the ricer up to figure out what I am going to do about a support bracket for the FMIC... the 2 mounting tabs that were on it for the jetta broke off when my buddy took it into the ditch (reason for selling his jetta for 2K) so I need to figure something.

The radiator support panel on the Ricer is damaged... somehow it was pulled out forward and the pinch welds/tabs were ripped off/apart... so it is sticking forward a little.... it makes it difficult to make a solid mount. I think I will have to pull the 2 front tow brackets off the car completely, cause they were bent up for the car being lowered, and they are interfearing with the radiator support being able to be put back into it's correct position. Once those brackets are off, I will put the support back in place and weld it on.

I will continue, my partner came out and we are brainstorming right now

Um, correction to your post, my fan got destroyed by a friend joyriding the car without thinking that running it hard for more than 5 minutes will cause an issue like this.... another reason for pointing the turbo at the frame on the D/S.... but that isn't the who reason why I changed it.

I will post up some more pics tonight probably....

I need to get the ricer smogged and regged ASAP... my 4D's bushings are all blown now... except the few I put energy suspension bushings in.... but it drives like an ***...... I need to ditch the beater and go with the rice!

Here's the result of the brainstorming about 1 and 1/2 hrs later:

Much better.

Next I need to spray the intercooler with hi-temp flat black to give it the stealth look, but I would leave the piping polished so it throws people off. I did as little trimming of the bumper as possible to get it to fit... and the best part was I didn't have to leave the inner main bumper off, I cut a piece out of it to fit around the intercooler, and it holds it snug right against the radiator support...

So... since it fits perfectly now... needing no brackets no-less... I just need to remove the bumper to reinforce it with a piece of angle iron for support since it was cut slightly. Also I will wels supports to the lower seperated portion of the radiator support to give it some strength.

All in all, the mounting of the core took me less than hours... all that is left is to make piping to connect from the turbo to the inlet where the air filter is currently located (pretty odd hearing the intake on the drivers side of a civic...). I have the couplers, but no pipe right now, I will have to go get a length, and maybe just a U bend.

I don't have work, so I will take the bumper off and take pics of the cutout design I made to hold the IC core in place. I will probably cut the BOV section out of the old charge piping so it can be mounted on the charge piping untill I get the length of pipe needed for the rest of the kit. (to mount a flange to)

Anyways.. it's late... time to pass the expletive out.

i'm only somewhat releived to see that you actually got some metal piping IC piping in there finally....even if it IS from a Vdub...it's volumes better than PVC.

I like this set up, so for your cold side piping you just use a air filter and for the hot side you connect from the intake manifold to the turbo?

You got that right, out of a volvo... I used one of the oil flange bolts to atach it to the oil drain flange whn I got the turbo from pick 'n pull.

Anyways, I am waiting to get myself a new T3 because I won't have the time to fab up a manifold for the K03 Sport....

With the piping: Right now, it is going from the TB to the intercooler on the passenger side, through the core, and it goes out of the core to a filter that is mounted there untill I get the turbo back on.

Those tires.... they don't hold air for longer than 48 hrs. They are just on there untill I get a new set of rims for it, or I feel like getting another new set for the 16's, but I always manage to get a slow leak out of one or two of the rims so that is why I am reluctant right now.

Also:

I still need to smog/reg and swap the D15B into the ricer... then things will really start to progress.

Hey... if anyone in the San Jo' area have an extra T3 lying around... hit me up!

Maybe if you spent less $ on pot, and more on your car you wouldn't need to work 3 jobs.

Sorry...but I couldn't resist.

Lol, I don't spend $$$ on pot, I grow it legally

When you have been hit in the head by a car, and have degenerative joint problems, it is a good alternative to more than 3,000mg+ of Ibuprofen a day.

As for my friend there, well, he has his own story.

Anyways, I got the BOV cut out of the old piping, and mounted in... I plan to make a new PVC system for when we dyno... I still have enough left over to get the job done.

more pics:

Above: The intercooler is held against the lower portion of the radiator support, and the top is being held in (just tight enough) by the bumper. I cut a notch and part out of the bumper [[Squared off selection]], and it hangs just down far enough to securely hold the IC core in place[[Rounded Selection]], but not block any cooling fins. Origionally I was just going to cut out and box in the bumer around the core, but when I made the first cut, and fitted it up, it seemed I didn't need to do anything else.

As for the other 2 pics, they speak for themselves.
