FINALLY BOOSTED!!!
I've had the best weekend of my life... so i guess it's all down hill from here. I had my birthday on the 27th, graduated on the 29th, and got my car tuned on the 30th. I can't believe the difference! If you happen to be in the northeast and especially in the upstate NY area... I highly recomend going with Torin (HT name is "GruvyTune") He's a great guy to work with and we street tuned my car with his equipment. I had a S100/P28 ecu and we spend the better part of the afternoon driving around tuning. I'm only running 7psi right now but I plan on turning it up to 9 or 10 soon. Then this summer depending on my funds... I will be rebuilding my bottom end with some nice forged hardware and will either be buying an s200 to learn to tune myself or i'll just make the drive back out to have him tune me again. I'd go the uber or chrome route, but after watching Torin tune my car with hondata's software, I really liked what i saw in terms of tools and interface.
time to safe up!!!
Summary:
Boost is awsome... and addictive
and Torrin gets for an awesome tune and just being easy to work with. He definately knows what he's talking about. He's helped me plan out my next few mods for the car too. Definitely give him a yell if you're looking for a tune.

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (ginoboy1978)
sorry... didn't list any of my setup... here's what I have:
T3/T04b ball bearing turbo
Log style mani
Turbonetics Wastegate 7psi spring
Custom 3" to 2.5 inch dp
REALLY big Spearco IC
TurboXS RFL bov
RC 660 injectors
P28 w/ hondata s100
OBX Aluminum moroso copy oil pan (not a perfect fit but the $150 i saved was worth the mods I had to do)
I also have a TurboXS boost controller but its not installed yet
I actually bought the kit from a guy here on HT, i'm pretty sure benjithx was his name. He had it on his 2000 civic si. Actually... i'll check to see if he has the picks still up.

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (eag36)
Eric,
thanks for that...
Everything still ok with it? I was concerned after what you told me the other day.
Ringlands should hold up to at least 11lbs especially tuned conservatively like we did.
And yes, the hondata system especially tuning a B series using a P28 can lead to perfect driveability and performance if tuned correctly.

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (GruvyTune)
yeah, the car still runs great... still perfectly smooth except for the rough idle on occasion, but i think i may have traced the problem to a bad pcv valve... i'm not sure if that can cause a rough idle. I really need to get a s200 system and a wideband so i can start monitoring my engine and trouble shoot things alot easier. I'm hoping after all of my graduation presents come in (most of which should be money) i'll have enough to buy the wideband and hondata programing stuff.
Also, on occasion i've been throwing a CEL code 1... my primary O2 sensor. Is this because we have it running rich at wot or does this mean my O2 sensor is going bad?

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (GruvyTune)
congrats bro, I actually have a very similar setup on my GSR... I was wondering if you like the RFL bov? I heard it is loud and a head turner? I have hondata s200 on my 98 gsr running 10psi high boost and 8 psi daily and the car drive better than when I was stock, but way way faster, so cool......good luck

Yeah... the RFL is exactly what it stands for. When you're just driving around town not boosting you get a loud wistle-type purge of air, but when you're running wot or close too it and the turbo is spooled right up there its just a loud woosh or something like that. I can take a vid with sound from my car and post it... but that won't be for a few days probably.

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (eag36)
thats very odd you are throwing an o2 sensor cel.
i burned your chip with open loop enabled and the o2heater code disabled.
perhaps a bad connection with your sensor? should not throw a code. the timing and fuel maps therefore should not change at all except for normally adjusted changes in atmospheric pressure and temp that the stock computer tables adjust for.
disconnect your battery for a half hr and clear the codes.
you can also try just disconnecting your o2 sensory and just leave it in as a plug or get an 18mm plug and leave it out completely.

Re: FINALLY BOOSTED!!! (eag36)
Yesterday i went on a long drive out to boston to look at some apartments and I didn't have a check engine light the whole trip. So i'm not really sure what was causing it to throw a cel, but it seems to be better now.

Re: (eag36)
Ok, so i'm getting a s200 with datalogging and the software to log and tune with, so i'm now in the market for a wideband to log and tune with. I'd like to use it permanently as a narrowband just to watch the a/f's not necesarilly to run closed loop with, because i just assume stay open loop.
So i wanted to know what you guys are using for widebands that have the output for logging with the hondalogger software? Torrin, I know you told me a few to look at but i cant remember which ones they were.

Re: (eag36)
i recommend the techedge unit
build yourself if you have the confidence
for the money, works the best i have seen and is easy to implement with hondata and its datalogging
