Default Filter Solution???? (Pics)

okay, pretty much cut this out from one of my old filters and just put it on the turbo.(beats my old pantyhose/mesh grill method IMO)

basically waht i did too, except i used a t-shirt sprayed with K&N oil. As long as you have some sort of mesh behind the paper (so that it doesn't get sucked in) it'll be fine.

thats ghetto. dude go to homedepot or a hardware store. Find $4 and buy that aluminum dryer duct 2.5 - 3 inch diameter or whatever. Its aluminum so you can crush/conform the duct around that little nipple you got there and run a filter on it. good luck. I wouldnt trust that thing you got on there. rather just run nothing at all.

why you say that? if you run nothing a small pebble or something could get sucked up and tear some stuff up!

there is mesh in front and behind the filter.

I say that because the way the turbo is sandwiched between the block and radiator would make it unlikely for a pebble to bounce around and find its way up in there. Not impossible just unlikely though I dont konw how often you drive and how the roads are where you live. I wouldnt run no filter but I wouldnt run what you got there. I just dont like it.

Additionally those $1 clamps suck because they get loose over time. At least buy a turbonetics type clamp with a teflon coated lock nut. If you suck that towel and screen in, you could be fucked.

Me personally id use the dryer duct crushed around the nipple w/ filter

i dont know why you guys do that.. i mean the surface area of those filters licks!.

lookit a real filter and how much surface are it has, im thinking those filters are holding the turbo back and not doing it any justice..

Word up, people have done dyno tests with just screens several hp over normal filters, and like this guy said it's all about surface area, you have to pull the air that the turbo can suck thru that little screen rather then all the space over a large k&n filter. Spend the dough and do it right! that's ghetto no matter what..
