Default filter restrictions

So i am in the middle of my build, and im trying to figure out what size air filter to use. i have a 60/63 Garrett on my b16. I have been reading up on restrictions caused by to small of a air filter. my only problem is there isnt any room. Does any one know if the size filter im using will cause a restriction or not.

might look a little ghetto, but i still have to weld the two pipes togther and make my reducer look better haha,

How much power are you putting down. This filter will def. support 400 hp without any problematic level of restriction.

The cheaper filters have been pulled apart many times by the turbo.I have not experienced that myself since I just go with a k&n filter to keep that from happening

Never buy an APC filter (even for a quick fix)

Well went to VIP garage today for the final area DSM meet of the year, driving back home heard a weird noise pulled over...limped it back to my buddy justins house, which was 10mins further up the road.

Basically this is what happened:

heard a piece of metal tumbling around, didnt have any boost rolling through a stop light trying to pass a car after light. Pulled over asap, thought worst turbo took a **** whats done is done, limped the car home trying to stay out of boost and under 3000rpms. (APC intake filter came apart, my car is making over 400whp)

RIP FPHTA88 turbo

BTW turbo1307 took the pics!

Everything looks normal

Now the aftermath

small little triangle looking piece is part of my turbine wheel

what we know happened

the destruction

OWNED!
good enough reason for me to not run a filter like that

it looks like you have planty of room for a larger filter... go on k&n site and use there filter by dimensions search... get a full rubber filter, dont go w/ anything that has an insert init as mentioned already...
