Sure does! We have numbers to prove it. It's because of the "no rubber" design we use + we utilize an internal velocity stack and air diversion top. Here's a ruff pic...

That's pretty much what the inside of the APEXI filter "feels" like. The exterior of the unit also looks very similar.

I don't have the cajones to cut my open like that though , nor the spare funds to waste.

Are these filters still cotton gauze? Are they oiled? I remember having a air filter that said rs akimoto and K&n on it? Are they still k&n filter elements?

RSA worked with K&N back in the early 90's on our 1st funnel ram design. Since then we have purchased the equippment to build the filter in house. The Funnel Ram IV filter I posted a picture of have been out for about 6 years now...the APEX-i is a great copy seeing that they have only been doing filters for a couple years now...

Would you guys (RSA) ever attempt dynoing their filter with BPi's velocity stack+K&N intake?

I am willing to bet that our Funnel Ram IV filter will out flo that combo...

**NO differance between the oiled cotton gauze & wire mesh RSA & K&N use. Parts are supplied by the same vendors.

yea thats quite a claim. considering the great results seen by the BPi stack. same with the prototype/IB. id be willing to bet the BPi/prototype/IB will all perform better then the RS piece. simply because they all use a larger filter and have a much larger stack. just my opinion

haha...Sick....i believed in akimoto since 2000. Me and my cousins all ran this and we did pretty well at the street races out in Oxnard....where i lived for a year. I remember getting busted once cause i took the filter off and just left the velocity stack on the akimoto intake and i got pulled....the cop was asking me where my filter was and i was like ohhh uhhh this intake has the filter in the pipe...And i NOS in the car too at the time.

Dude...this is old school..

Use to have RS Akitomo in my Supra back in the college days. Remember it was in Ontario somewhere. Than the design got copied by many others, Injen, and Fijuboto or something. Man....this is America...

Waiting for the shootout and always thumbups to the creator of Ram Air..Tadashi..

I received the filter and installed it...compared to not running any filter at all to installing this is crazy...My motor chirps when i go into vtec...By all means i know that doesnt mean anything but my vtec hits too late. But it never did this before. Also the sound of this filter is indescribable...it screams like no other..I will post pics when my girl get home from work. IDK the password to vidi life...

Pros
-Beautiful filter
-Added some power compared to no filter/RSA original velocity stack missing filter
-SOUNDS AWESOME!
-Good deal and there is a honda-tech special i believe...Pm Rob and he'll hook it up for sure

Cons
-Was kinda pricey for me..being in hawaii
-Never include decals or license plate frame
hahah...thats all i can think of....

now someone should dyno this shiet...haha...My butt dyno LOVES IT!

i still think a real V-stack/flowstack (PR/BPi) with a large k&n filter will outperform it

Yeah it could possibly make more power until...someone proves this its only a theory...also to run a velocity stack and filter will cost damn near 130 bucks.

If you are looking for a good filter setup that will gaurantee perform without selling your right nut. I think this is a good setup. But if you wanna spend more on something that MIGHT make more power then i would. I am not doubting you in anyway...but as of now we are both just leaning towards what we like....SOMEBODY DO SOME TESTING!!!
