I never told my insurance about my turbo... I didnt want to pay a premium.

So I figured that if I ended up in an accident, I would have to take care of replacing any damaged turbo related parts myself...

I saw that as being cheaper than paying for insurance "in case" something happened...

But, thats me.

yea that's true

so.. if i am only paying liability, they won't be paying my car's damages anyways.

but i am wondering, if i get into an accident, then they say my car is been modified, and the won't pay the other party's damages, would this happen??

I don't think the insurance companies care too much. I told my insurance agent about my turbo set up and and had an additional $5k of coverage added to my policy without an increase in my rate.

I guess it would depend upon what your record and credit history looks like though. Since I am married and over 25 I might be flying under the radar somehow but even if I had to pay extra I would do it. Better to pay a little more in insurance and have peace of mind than to wake up one morning and find your car, turbo, etc. stolen and you stuck with no insurance.

so if i am not paying full coverage, i shouln't worry about too much, right??

i am just afraid that they will say "your car is illegally modified, and we are not paying any damages your car made" then that will screw me up !

If you are not pay full coverage then you have nothing to worry about. Even if your car was stolen or wrecked you would have to pay for it all anyway. If you had full coverage on the other hand then I would say tell the insurance company and just cover your *** against a loss.

They really dont care, after a small accident i got in they saw everything but didnt even write it down. However if I wreck my car they only pay me for a stock civic hatch. Thats just the way it works.

Yeah make sure anything you want covered is bolted down....I just got jacked for my stereo, subs, amp, radar detector and such. I wasn't aware of the bolted down policy and I told the guy the subs, amp and radar detector were not bolted down.

Well i was with state farm and was in a little bender (NOT MY FAULT) and they balked on paying for repairs. I ended up flipping the bill myself and a month later they did eventually pay for it however droped my policy.

Had to goto another company and wave coverage on the turbo stuff.

Insurance companies blow.

I havnt told my insurance. they told me anything bolted to the car is covered with recepits. so i have a folder as thick as a phone book with EVERYTHING.

i figure if something happens, they'll cover it, at least most of it then drop my *** like a bad habit....

I know it sounds strange, but USAA will insure all aftermarket modifications to a vehicle in their apartment, or personal property insurance. This, I think works for theft only...I am not too sure about accidents. It works out to be pretty cheap
