Default insurance and turbos

Since my insurance company is a bitch and won't cover anything that isn't stock unless it's written in the contract, how much are some of you paying to have your turbo setup insured? Personally the last thing I want to do is tell them that I have a turbo, but if my car gets jacked, im out a turbo. Info please!

BTW, I hate insurance companies. The rob people more than people in jail have ever done in teh history of mankind, but do they get in trouble **** no. What happens when you need them to help pay for something? They run, they say don't won't pay cause of some clause, some clause that says, "we take you money, ha ha go **** yourself" Give me a break. This world is so full of bullshit and somebody needs to kill them all.

I am with American Family and they told me that to get other stuff covered is is about 10-20 extra a month for each thousand dollars of extra coverage. I think hte price was closer to 10. So just call your agent and ask. Some places will tell you no just because you are a kid or whatever, it happened to me, and if they do that I would call the national 800 number if your company has one.

It is not that bad if you think about it. If you get a turbo kit for say 4 grand it would take 100 months at 40 bucks a month until you lost money on it if you had to claim something. And I really doubt that you will have your car for 100 months. It seems like a good investment to me if you dont want to be worried about your **** getting messed up. What if you hit someone? Your insurance company is going to get your car back to factory specs. They are not going to pay for a turbo, let alone any other performance intended stuff. So you would lose thousands of dollars. Or, you could pay the insurance 40 a month and be ok!! ....Come to think of it it may have even been lower than 10 a month per thousand. But you would have to check with your specific agent.

That 100,000 isnt for theft or property. Trust me if you were insuring a 100k car your rate would be alot higher than 130 a month. That is how much they will pay for your hospital bill if you are at fault I believe.

all you need to worry about is theft. you could just tell them that your **** is worth $15K or whatever and have them insure you car for that amout. if you total your car (yours or there fault) just buy back the car and take off all your ****, keep it sell it whatever, and sell whats left of the car. then your insurance company never knew or cared. of course that would only apply to engine and interior mods, if you messed up your body kit or paint, with my theory, your screwed. i had my car totaled (someone elses fault) and i came up with a bunch of recipts and they basicly gave me a bunch of money, i bought the car back and another car then swapped all the stuff.
am i going to tell my insurance company that i turbo'ed my car? hell no! did a engine swap? nope. i dont want them to raise my rates more than they already are, a 18yo with a ticket/accident (different accident than above, my fault) and a turbocharged car, they will charge me up the ***...
