a few newb setup questions
Just got this 94 integra to play with.
Goal is 250whp to start. Probably push it up at a later point.
Turbo i am thinking about starting with is a t3 t04e 46 trim .50 a/r compressor .63 a/r turbine.
Probably going to build my own header.
Will run 3" exhaust.
Will chip and tune.
Stock lower end.
I will do some porting/cleanup on the head since its apart and is freeish.
Two questions. Is that turbo going to cut it? and at what point is it going to be a limit. Seems it should be good up to maybe 300hp and spool pretty quick.
Header. I have piles of scrap 1.5"x.065 stainless tubing bends. Strength aside, are these going to be too small?

46 trim is a horrible turbo. Stick with a 50 trim. Way better suited to what you're doing and will support you to the low 400s if you want more power down the road.

1.5" is good for keeping exhaust velocity high. It aids response by not letting the gases slow down a good bit on top of keeping the gases slightly hotter. It helps with midrange torque production. Don't worry about it being too small because it isn't. You'll be hard pressed to reach the limits of that runner size. As an example I'm running a 1.5" runner mini ram on my b series aiming for 450hp or so.

I deff say try and get a good quality 50 trim it'll b better suited for ur 1.8 ull b in full boost by 3300 rpms at most and ull have room to grow past your goal if you see fit

Why is the 46 horrible?
More info here. The 46 trim is a freebie that a buddy is giving me.
My idea here was to use the 46 to get it going and figure out how to street tune it. Once im done with that learning curve, swapping out to a better turbo, and a built motor and more power.
The i have a spare b18 to build up while im working on blowing this one up.

Compared to the 50 trim, I can see why nobody prefers the 46 trim. Having said that, i'm sure it would be fine considering its free. Is it ideal, probably not, but will it work, absolutely. Your power goals aren't astronomical and this would make a good segway / starter setup. You can always swap turbos later too

Re: a few newb setup questions
If it's 100% free and doesn't need repair then go for it. Just know it won't be as happy at higher boost pressures as the other wheels.
You can always convert yours over if and when you want more power if you don't change turbos entirely. It's as simple as buying a 50 trim (or whatever trim T04E wheel) and either have your compressor cover machined to fit our just buy a housing already machined. Having the housing machined would probably cost more given how popular the t3/t04e hybrid is. You can find housings everywhere dirt cheap.
Of course by the time you decide for more power you will probably be past the capabilities of the t3/t04e family of turbos. If you do upgrade keep me in mind for the 46 trim. I've got a wheel laying around that I think would be a fun project.
