F20b turbo build, loosing boost at high RPMs
Alrighty, I got a 5th gen prelude with a boosted F20b. I'm running a dsm 14b turbo, dsm 450cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, stock internals. Long story short, I was only able to get my car tuned up to about 6500 rpms due to an oil leak, and dyno time had to be cut short, so I'm only running about 4.5lbs of boost (5 psi wastegate spring, hallman boost controller with no pressure on the ball).
I've been driving the car around as such for about a week, and I when I hit about 5.5k rpms, I start loosing boost. By 6500 I'm at about 3 psi, or just under 3, so I've lost about 1 psi. In any gear, my boost holds pretty much rock solid all the way up until that point, which makes me believe that it can't be a leak in my IC piping...
The other theory is that because of 14b is pretty small and I'm running 11:1 compression with only 4.5lbs of boost on that little turbo, that my motor is outflowing the turbo as I get closer to 6500 rpms.
What do you guys think? Is it just spiking? Bad wastegate/spring? Leak in IC piping? Do I need a bigger turbo? Or do I need to turbo up the boost on the 14b to get in the effective range of the compressor wheel? Any input would be great. I don't want to hop back on the dyno and be building 2psi at 8k rpms... Thanks guys.
