experienced ppl...new headgasket or head bolts? overheating in boost
My engine is overheating when i go into boost. The engine is newly rebuilt. I retorqued the head bolts which were about 15ft-lb off spec and the car ran fine while i was driving it hard (boost). I didn't see any overheating for two days. The car is starting to overheat again. I need some opinon on whether i need new head bolts (have mine been stretched past yeild strength?) or if its the head gasket. Thanks guys, i'm stumped

Did you reuse your old head bolts? If you did, they might have streched. I recommend running a nice set of ARP's if you need new ones.
Whenever you overheat when going into boost there is a sealant problem with the headgasket. I would say get new headbolts, a new OEM headgasket, and also check the deck of the head and block.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really hoping that i won't have to replace the head gasket in this weather (no garage). I don't even want to think about the idea of the head or block being warped...ugh. I love this car but its taken up too much of my time and money.

well i just started it up and took the rad cap off. I saw those infamous black oil droplets......i guess that solves that one. I'm going to get a new head gasket and arp head stud set.
