Engine Management options
That engine was built by Fred Ellis for M&R motorsports in Leonardtown Md. It's mine now. My car is a 90 crxsi with all stock wiring. The question I would like to ask is what is involved in converting from obd0 to obd1 so I can use standalone. What are the cost's?

that is not true... we have a 1000 ems running a b20vtec in a 90crx. all you have to do is get a obd0 to obd1 jumper and change the settings in the software for the 16tooth distributor or wire in a obd1 distributor. no big deal there.

I think the PMS is better than the emanage, but then again, I'm biased

Hell, I run the Emanage and don't like it so I would have to agree with you. But to whoever said to become your own tuner, that is the best advice in this whole thread. I tune my own with a Wideband and some OBD2 software for my laptop and have probobally saved me and my friends hundreds of dollars on tuning.

You can fiddle the EMS settings to run OBD0 distributors easily, but you need a jumper harness to interface the EMS to the OBD0 wiring... nothing new here.

best bang for the buck...
how about sdsefi.com? lotta people making big power with that system, it has ignition control, doesn't use a pc for programming.
megasquirt would be the ultimate bftb... a motorcycle guy running it went 303 mph on the salt, it's proven technology that you build yourself... ignition control is a bit more nebulous, but the ultramegasquirt that's coming up will be wide-band O2 that competes with systems costing many $$$ more.
drawbacks in those standalone systems might include how well they plug into factory harnesses, and that they currently don't include closed-loop wide band O2 control while under wide open throttle.
accurate wbO2 control under wot can save you a whole bunch of tuning $$$, if it works right... i believe that aem and electromotive both have that capability.

Welp here we go..... DING DING, let the EMS war begin
Autronic....... better take a number
Motec...... better get another job, same with e-motive... unless you're a dealer like me
ya'll know what my fav is, so let the war continue
EDIT: I mean e-motive dealer.... not the "other" kind of dealer
