tuned my h22 turbo today, but very wierd look!!
tuned my h22 turbo today(thanks to eli), its a 95 h22 with a drag gen4 kit w/ afc hack, dsm 450's, walbro255, b&m fpr set at 40psi.
made 242hp max w/ 197.5 tq @7-8psi. air fuel was a good 12.1 - 12.9.
wheres the rest of my power?? shouldnt i be making at least 260hp minimum.
also my afc settings are hella wierd, they are:
same on wide and narrow
LVT
1k +3
2k+3
3k+3
4k+4
5k+4
55k+4
6k -12
65k-12
HVT
4k 0
45k 0
5k 0
55k 0
6k -12
7k-12
8k -12
9k -12
these settings are just totally diffrent than everyone else thats using the hack, its almost as if the numbers are backwards. all the other settings are set to hack settings 98 99 etc
any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Those numbers are really really low. I don't know junk about H22s, so I can't help though.

Re: (safe driver)
Those number do seem a little low...
But your afc hack numbers are really weird. I was running like -32/38 range numbers when i had the hack.
A dyno plot would definitly help, especilly with an a/f plot.

post your FULL set up (include a/r trims of your turbo) as well as your dyno sheet with a/f. Did you leave your timing at stock or retard it?

I didn't think you need check valves with the hack?
But a dyno sheet will help us pinpoint the problem...

95 h22 with a drag gen4 kit w/ afc hack, dsm 450's, walbro255, b&m fpr set at 40psi. check valves, 2.5in exhaust, no cat, zex plugs, magnacore wires, thats all i can think of. timing is at stock right now. we retarded it a degree or so, and it lost hp. dyno sheet will go up today.
i dont know the exact trims of the turbo. this is all i know Turbonetics-Garrett T3/T04B or E-trim hybrid turbo

Re: (Kp_VtekNiks)
Its the check valves! You did the hack wrong thats why normal settings are nowhere near close. You are flowing the same fuel at 10psi as you are at 0psi since the ecu cannot see the boost! That is why you were not able to trim the fuel back any, you are flooding the engine with fuel out of boost instead of letting the ecu see the boost and letting it add fuel on its own. You need to remove the check valves and hook the map sensor up like it would be stock. Then you need to trim the fuel back to "normal hack settings" and retune. You car will run way better out of boost and will be a more accurate tune in boost.

Seriously... it looks like it. But, I guess around 5,000 it looks like VTEC too. I think that the fuel theory is right on. I don't know jack really about the AFC hack or H22's or why my chair is soaking wet or... But, think like this: If the T3/T4 is building decent boost around 3,500, then that power jump could be getting towards optimal A/F and all that extra fuel is being mixed with all that tasty air. SO, you could be running rich as goo before 3,500, before boost, and you're just bogging out your cylinders with fuel. That might explain the power. I don't know if you're supposed to use check valves with an AFC, those are just so the MAP sensor doesn't throw a CEL if you're using an FMU or such. I think the AFC needs the accurate MAP voltage to calculate fuel to the ECU.
That's my thoery, and I don't know. Makes sense to me, I didn't look at the A/F ratio graph though, maybe I should've before I posted.
Who's the one that said our ECU's add more fuel if they see boost?

There is a very long page with lots of good information about "the hack". Please read this.....you're engine would really appreciate it.

Re: tuned my h22 turbo today, but very wierd look!! (hoggy)
ya i agree somewhat, if you just run the full hack(no check valves) i think you will ultimately benifit from it, but if you say you are getting near perfect A/F ratio then by all means keep it right? maybe you should also try a compression test on the engine, it might just be tiard.

Re: tuned my h22 turbo today, but very wierd look!! (tek_civic)
okay.. well when we first put the car onto the dyno, we were doing the hack.. say -45 or so with no check valves or anytihng.. his a/f went to like a 17.1 so we just cut off.. we tried everything and things were just not working.. so finally i played with the afc, and got the a/f to go down... trust me.. we tried everything.. i think we had over 50 runs.. 3.5 hours there..i got the a/f about 12.1-12.5 or wahtever while it was in boost while doing this as much as i could without getting a CEL.. im saying that because we were getting map codes with the check valves while dynoing.. it was just weird how the afc hack wasn't working properly... i didn't do the afc hack on his car so i wouldnt' know what happenend.. i had afc hack on my car and it was running great, so i'm no pro nor amatuer at tuning what so ever.. this is my first time at a dyno/tuning at the dyno... we set vtec at 5 k because we were losing power anywhere behind/before.. also.. the turbo was oily as hell around the inlet part where the filter goes... it was crazy.. so i dunno if that had a factor with power.. dunno.. give us some suggestions and we'll go back and try it out.. as of right now this car pulls pretty good with no hiccups or anything.. just really not the numbers we wanted..

Re: tuned my h22 turbo today, but very wierd look!! (eli_vang)
exactly what eli said, the reason i have to use the check valves was becuz without them and jus the hack it was throwing map code and cuttin off at 6900 -7k. and since some of of my settings are not in the negative, i need the check valves with the setttins as they are now. so this was the best we could do to get it running. still pulls good but im missing 20 some hp.

hey, just because a few people have hit 275+ hp on similar setups like yours and you didnt make it.. dont worry about it. this is honda-tech where big dyno #'s means everything right? I only made 306whp on a stock Crvtec @ 12psi and of course people were like, ya you should be making more power..
If the car is tuned good, and feels good dont worry about it
