At work to clean engines we just use a general degreaser like simple green.

We spray that on the engine, and then rinse it off with a garden hose and sprayer attachment. It helps if the engine is warm while doing this.

If you can, afteward blow the engine dry with compressed air. Make sure you get the water off the distributor, plugs, etc.

looks like the car is been in hibernation mode!!!!

ive never seen a engine bay so filthy

is this how u treat your children............let them run wild and dirty for a month and once in a blue moon give them a bath!!

Actually, it was a wrecked Si that I bought from a junkyard. That engine is now in my car!

why not turn off the engine to wash it??
coz i remember my uncle, his car was on, then he was using water to spray it...
then the car died....

what causes that actually??

what will be the problem if i turn off my car and use water to spary, the car won't start??

If you get water in the distributor, or down by the plugs you may have problems.

i don't think it's good to spray cold water on a hot block, i let mine cool down for about an our before i clean it...

I've sprayed my engine down a few times at the car wash with no problems to speak of. The only thing I cover is the filter.
