Default EGT temps under boost?

I'm seeing exhaust gas temps near 1400 under boost and 1200-1300 under moderate street driving. Does this sound normal to any of you running an EGT gauge?

That is usually where mine is running.

I run around 800C - 1472F at the track max, and about 650 -700C on the highway, yeah sounds about right. I still lean it out more and test honda heads into the 950range they make sick power but dont last very long.
ps your 1400F may be a little high depnding on what kindl of setup you are running, chances are you couldnt hurt anything by throwing more fuel at your motor and taking our some ignition timimg, that will lower temps for sure.

Thanks. There's not many people around here to ask (who know their stuff) about this, so I've been playing with fuel and timing on the dyno to try and lower the temps. I get the most power out of the car AND the 1400 F temps, so I'll just leave it alone.

Can you transfer the EGT to a/f mixture, say 800 deg C is 12.5:1 or so?

Nope. Timing can change the temp without a fuel adjustment, so that means two variables are in the mix. My car is fairly simple, I have an adjustable rising rate regulator and stock computer set up running a JRSC with stock boost. I play with the fuel and make a run and watch the EGT and then check the HP numbers to verify the adjustment. Then I play with timing and repeat the process. Pretty low tech (no wideband at our dyno) and time consuming, but it works. I'm sure water injection would have some effect on the temps but I haven't gotten that far yet.

nope that wouldnt work, I am not discounting the fact you may develop a rule of thumb - faustregel - for example if you advance your timing to such a ridculous degree you can expect 500C higher temps due to increased cylinder pressure but still have the proper mixture. my 800C is at around 11.9:1AF for street setup, thats only at peak torque where I use the most fuel at around 4600rpm. in 39F ambient temps - yeah we dyno in the ******* winter out here, makes for sick power yo should see the SAE correction factor for 70F

i usely see between 1500 to 1550f on mine at wot
less gapping on spark ,retard timing, lean conditon will raise the egt

you guys should probably include what kind of sensor/gauge and where you mounted it. i guess whats more important is that its a tool for measuring the changes when tuning or for alerting imminent meltdown heh.
