Just slapped the 14b on my d16y8 and it is running GREAT, SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO much better than NA. Anyways I hooked up my TRE EGT probe to my plx wideband/egt/knock datalogger and I got some temps for you guys to critique.
Idle - 500C
Cruise (city) - 600-700C
Cruise (highway) - 700-800C
WOT 850-950C (i let off when the EGT is around 900 but sometimes it can spike to 950 for a second. Im almost positive that 900C is close to melting...right?)
Those #'s seem kinda high compared to what everyone else ive read was running but I THINK it may be due to the design of my manifold (really short log type manifold tapped in runner #3...although its not really a runner but sort of a collector.)
I am using CROME to tune timing, i use stock P2P igntion maps and used a step retard...im only running 7psi and my AFR's are around 12:1 at full boost. What do you guys think? Why does it seem like my engine is borderline gonna melt?

where are you getting those readings from? my EGT sensor is right on the mani and mine are alot hotter then that.
idle - 600-800F
cruise - 700-1000F
highway - 900-1250F
i ahve hit 1400 at the track and that is the hottest i have seen it

his readings are in celsius. his 900C is about 1650F. he is way hotter than you.

Ill get an exact measurement tommorow but it is really close to the head and the turbo exhaust inlet. Would the probe being so close effect my readings?

yea its a pretty good unit, i hafta play around with the datalogging some more but i also go crome for now but ill be logging egt on the plx. The readout can be hard so see at times during the day (sun glare) but at night it is awesome. Nice big numeric readout for egt, knock, and afr.

my #'s are in celcius.
Idle - 500C | 932F
Cruise (city) - 600-700C | 1112F - 1292F
Cruise (highway) - 700-800C | 1292F - 1472F
WOT 850-950C | 1562F - 1742F
Probe is about 2" from head and 1/2-1" from turbo inlet......ill post pics when i get home........it seems as though my WOT EGT's have gone down too...about 850C....maybe i melted the compression down some
