Default egt in middle of manifold?

I have bought a sfp manifold and its already tapped for egt. What i noticed is that at idle its around 700 degree and normal cruising it jumps to a little under 1400 degress. I know the best place for the egt is the third number, but will it throw off the readings if its in the middle?

no it will not throw off the readings. Most people say to put it at the number 3 cylinder b/c that runs the hottest. You are now just getting more of a general reading

So runner #3 runs hotter...So itll be better to hook the EGT to it?

i put my egt sensor on the waste gate elbow because i really only need to know egt when im in boost. If im in vaccumm, you dont need to worry.
