Default EGT Problem!

Hey guys,
i am in deep trouble....i took my manifold to get a bung welded to fit on the 3rd runner underneath the mani (hidden location)...and the garage made a mistake welding it in a wrong angle where it hits the turbo turbine and now whatever i do the turbo cant be bolted to the manifold anymore

what can i do now? i was thinking of bending where i marked green...is that possible? will it the sensor still work? will read accuratly? this is an EGT Defi D gauge model

let me know asap guys!
Km

do you happen to know the type of the thermocouple in there? How many wires are coming off of the defi harness?

try this website, it may help

I dunno how much more I can help-

is the defi in degrees C or degrees F? My greddy has that wire, and it reads in degrees C. Perhaps you could contach Defi if you dont wanna fix the mani?

Hey guys,
i took the manifold back to the garage to get this fixed and i knew they would ask me to redo it again (remove old bung, get manifold weld filled and put a new bung a different location)....well i said NO WAY I WANNA DO THIS TO A FULL RACE manifold and oh by the way i dont have another bung, so i worked with them instead of shouting at them, so i got an idea to work on the old bung and had to file the bung at a certain angle and still sensor can still go in without hitting bung thread walls (the bung diammeter is bigger then the sensor by the way...after that i realised that the bung threads got some weld on from last time (just noticed today), so the piece provided by Defi cant be used any more ( the one that has two different threads on both ends)...so i didnt loose hope and got that piece grinded and filed to be flush, then got that piece welded on the angled bung....and here is the result:

am happy that i can fit my turbo without putting any weight or pressure on the sensor anymore, but i do still have a question...does the clearance at that area seem to be ok in terms of heat? isnt the turbine heat gonna give me an inaccurate reading? i have a feeling the sensor will get both exaust heat and turbine temp? hope someone can clarify that am gonna be fine here?

Yours is perfect, your good to go.

I had to bend mine some cause it hit my turbo on my FR mani, and it worked just fine..

THen it got even harder for me, I bought a new egt gauge and it had a thicker probe than the previous one. I had to drill out the brass fitting I have threaded into my mani (i don't have a bung welded) and it was a bitch as that fitting isn't very big.

why woul you put it up stream of the turbo?

what are you going to do when the tip decides to melt off and go throuh your turbine?

i would risk geting a slightly low reading versus risking a gt turbo

i have always been under the impression that egt probes should be located 2" from the head on the #3 runner for hondas. right where this guy has it. i dont think you should have to worry about an instrument made for measuring exhaust temperatures melting...but i dunno.
