EGT????
Okay here it is. I have a mildly tuned 99 civic si. I am running built bottom end and stock head with hondata. 16 lbs. daily driven on a t3/t04e rev hard setup. When i say mildly tuned i mean exzactly that. My tuner was not real experienced when he did it about a year ago. I now have some questions in my head on what to expect on the new tune i am getting ready to do.
Anyways when i am doing 80 on the highway my egt are at 13. By the way it is a autometer gauge. Really no matter what speed i am at over 80 my egts settle at around 13. But when i get into full boost or over 10 lbs. the egts climb to like 15 or 16 and i am shure they would probably climb higher if it could but that is all the further the gauge will let it go. My question is, is this normal. A friend said it is not and that if i keep on boosting at high speeds i am going to melt the pistons or something like that. I have been doing it for a year now. Am i worrying now for nothing. I just dont want to have to rebuild the built motor after just one year. Any one have any answers to this question. Is it the shitty tune or is it going to end up killin the motor. If this is a prob what can be done to bring down the egts at high speeds/rpm

Re: EGT???? (slamedturtle)
Mine will settle to around 1150 -1200 after cruising for like 30-45 mins, but stay under 1300 under full boost. I think that 1500-1600 is way too high and you are gonna melt something sooner or later. Probably too much timing, or too lean, have you checked your a/f on a wideband? At 16 lbs I would richen it up to 11.25-11.5:1, on pump gas. Good luck.

Re: EGT???? (slamedturtle)
Thanks for the reply. I was worried about it. I know for shure that it is running real rich right now. Maybe i will go ahead and get it retunned. I have never had any problems with it since i first got it tuned so i never questioned it until now. Also it was tuned on a wide band at a shop. It could possiably be the gauge also.

Re: EGT???? (boosted_dc2)
Those Autometer gauges suck dude, i had a cobalt EGT gauge and hated it, horribly innacurate....told me i was 1600 degress at cruise speed which is BS my motor would of been on fire.... I have a friend with a peak/hold greddy gauge, the highest he ever gets is 10-11 and around 4-5 at idle 6 at cruise. Defiantly get what you pay for..... autometer EGT

Yeah i did not think to tell that. It is mounted right on top of the turbo manifold just off the head. So i know that i am going to be gettting higher than normal temps. Like i said when they tuned it they used a wideband and it was never in dangerous temps. Was curious what other people are getting.

Thanks for the reply, yeah the greddy gauges are in celcious. Everyone i know has the greddy gauges. That is why i made the post. I just needed numbers from other people to see what they are getting. but i think alot has to do with where its mounted like Landon said. But if you know of someone with similar mounting hook me up with there temp range. thanks
