Good thread!

E85 was in my tank for 8 months, fired right up after the new motor went in AFR's were the same as they were before...no issues here for being on E85 since 08... my tuner has been running it in a car for 5 years now and it has stock lines and everything, no issues....

Bigtuna, something else in the fuel up there caused that... the normal E85 that every body else gets doesnt do that ****....

I'm intersted, but only if you simulate a salt spray test.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_spray_test

BTW I would definately keep that outiside away from people, sparks, etc. It's still as dangerous as gasoline.

All of the parts seem to be in the same condition as original. Fuel evaporates like crazy.

putting a lid on it will be safe. It wont blow up or anything like that. Your gas tank doesnt blow up with it sealed so your glass bakewear shouldnt either...
Interesting thread...
All I can think of is maybe the E85 BigTuna was getting was concentrated differently or a different blend of additives?
Has anyone ever tried adding a bit of oil/additive to the E85 fuel to maybe help combat its slightly corrosive properties?

Most of us have yet to see any corrosive properties, so whats the sence of an additive?

It seems like alot of people report a white chalky substance after running E85. Anyone who works with aluminum can verify this is corrosion. While some corrosion is inevitable, I would look into anything that could help, especially if your finding any inside your fuel system...
Thats just me though...

I was referring to the guy on page 2 who suggested a lid but thought it may explode. Then another guy on page 4 suggested it again. Just want to clear up any possible confusion.
And yes, your factory fuel system has a vent line. (Not sure if your being sarcastic or not)

I have found a negative affect

it breaks oil down rather quickly lol I have been around 500whp, and now im over 600whp, and the oil is getting broken down rather quickly.

I can live with this though

How quick is "rather quickly"? How often are you changing your oil?
