reuse forged rods/pistons?
well my friend decided to sell his car. he's offering me his I believe JE 9.6:1 forged pistons and forged eagle rods. they're used. he said he was driving along the freeway when all of a sudden his car lost power. detonation I believe. anyways, he said the pistons and rods looked fine. should I go ahead and pick these up and reuse them?

Re: reuse forged rods/pistons? (Honda Sport)
As long as the bearing surface on the rod is not messed up and the piston top and skirts look fine, sure, why not?

so I don't need to worry about the pistons/rods in a motor that was detonating? I was told from somebody else that I should always use ONLY new rods/pistons. was he mistaken?

Re: (MordecaiPSI)
take them to a machine shop if you don't know what you are looking at. There is no reason not to reuse pistons/Rods if all the tolerances are within spec.

I know I'm gonna have to resleeve the block cause the h22a's FRM block material. The only thing is I can't get it checked out cause he lives in GA and I live in WA. I'm just gonna ask him for pics. What should I have him take pics of? the ringlands, top of pistons, etc.?
