E85 guys help me out
I want to know what i need to do to convert to E85, fuel system wise. Im runnin a built boosted K series in an EG hatch and i dont like having to run race gas to go over 400hp. Id like to be able to run any of my maps at any given time without having to worry about changing fuels. A little backround: Car on high boost makes 600+ whp. I have precision 1000cc injectors, earls racings in line fuel filter, 255 pump, and stock fuel lines from the firewall back to the tank. Ive heard the lines have to be bigger and i might have to run bigger injectors and a bigger pump. My question is, being E85 is so cheap and can be used on my higher boost level, is it worth while to convert it to run E85? Mind you, this is mainly used as a street car. Typically in the summer time ill drive between 100 and 250 miles a week. And i track it maybe 2-5 times a season, if that. Also, i am running Kpro.
Any help would be great!!

plus E85 in my area is only $2.70 a gallon, which is way better than race gas being $20-$25 a gallon...

Re: E85 guys help me out
you dont need 1600cc to make 600+ man im doing it on rc1000's at 23psi.
a new tune is needed for sure though
im on -10 lines though, and a a1000 pump with base set at 60psi

Re: E85 guys help me out
I've seen a 380whp civic max out the duty cycle on RC1000 on E85. Just remember it takes twice as much e85 to match the power output of gasoline. I guess it will depend on the tuner.
Sanman what duty cycle were you running your injectors at?

I pay less than $2.00/gal most fills for E85 and get comparable gas mileage (24-26 city / 25-28 hwy). The only switch i made was to a larger set of injectors (PTE 1000s) and i've had no issues. With your goal of 600+, you're going to need a large set of injectors, but nothing that can't be done. You will need to look into either a dual-Walbro or an A1000 pump to sustain that kind of flow. As for injectors, a set of 1200cc should do it, but i would go larger to be safe. Also, you could look into Injector Dynamics since they seem to outflow their claimed rate...their 1000s seem to be more like 12-1300ccs which is never a bad thing

Re: E85 guys help me out
I would like a pump i can retain in the stock tank. Which one would be the best for that, if possible...
Im not sure what my injectors are running at on high boost. Im not planning on running my high boost level which is 30psi. I wanna keep the motor somewhat safe and try to keep it at 25 or less. So i suppose whether or not ill for sure need bigger injectors is a question my tuner can answer for me. Im thinkin if i keep it at 25 or below, i an get by with the injectors i have and maybe the fuel pump, but if i wanna go higher in boost, then i can always upgrade down the road. Mainly this car will run between 13-16psi on the street cause from what ive experienced in the car, 400-450whp is more than enough to keep me entertained.
Maybe i was mistaken on the price of E85, might be around $2.17 near here. Im in the chicagoland area and we are known for having the highest gas prices in the country so who knows. ill have to look into it.
