Default e-85 cold start

Any suggestions on adjustments I can make to my Hondata to aid in cold starts? When it's around 50 or warmer out, car starts perfect. The colder it gets, the harder it is to start. Was really cold out today and I killed my battery trying to start the car. Thanks in advance.

From what i've heard, this is a common complaint with E85; however, there is a fuel/temp correction factor in most programs from what i've heard. Check with your tuner to see what he can do for you.

Think more fuel and more timing will help?

My car takes about 5-10 sec to fire once it got cold out and runs like all hell for 15-20 sec or so then it just picks up. Try inc./dec. the IAVC and the cold trim if one exists.

This is somewhat common with e85. This is why most stations switch over to e70 winter blend in the colder months. If you could pre-heat the fuel/intake manifold before starting you would be set.

Do you know if they change the mixture any other times of the year to different percentages? I am wanting to run e85, but am worried that the mixture will change year round causing me to constantly retune. Like maybe spring time will have e75 or something

Station to station blend might change. Seems like everybody seems to have a different situation locally as far as what is available and blends. Best way to know what is going on is with a ethanol content gauge: http://forums.evolutionm.net/s...05253

Picked one of these up for the shop. Very useful tool considering the amount of customers that are getting tuned on "e85" lately. I say "e85" loosely, as i see a consistent mixture of e78~80 on most blends.

One thing I have noticed since I ran E85 is an unnormally large amount of water in my exhaust, if I was to remove the DP at the Ex and I was near the pipe I would be soaked (did this already), maybe Ethanol (Corn Grain Alcohol) has a water base of some sort?

I am going to try one of those content gagues for a spring project. The station next to my house mixes the blend themselves. They said it comes as E98 and they always will have 500 gal at the bottom of the tank after the pumps stop pumping, they then take a 93 octane nossle and pump the correct amount into the tank to cut it down to E85.

Man thats pretty cool. I saw in another post that megasquirt actually has the tools to support the input from one of those sensors so you can automatically switch maps as the percentage changes like a flex fuel vehicle does. I'm hoping they get some near my house soon, but so far there is nothing here in Richmond.

Mine does the same. Added some timing and it 'seemed' to help this morning.
