it ran fine on 5psi with no timing adjustments (stock greddy map) for a long time..

i think the headgasket is fine though, i havent taken the y8 head off yet because ive been busy with the z6 head all day today. it has good compression and it only has problems with coolant overflowing when hitting 10psi. good thing i stopped before i blew up another engine. this damn y8 head blew up my b7 within 2 minutes of putting it on there.. ill be glad once my z6 is on there.

i just hope once i get finished with my z6 head and put that on (with dowel pins ) that everything will finally be finished and working great. im at the point where im tired of working on this car... heh

btw, i have a y8 head for sale

i went through 4-5 headgasets trying things, before i just sleeved the block. no issues at all now. more boost and a bigger turbo as well.

That explains my problem.

Last night I was driving around when I looked down at my temp guage. I was like "WTF!?!" so I turned the heat on full blast and it cooled back down to normal.

I got out, checked the overflow and noticed that it had a lot of coolant in it.

I drove around for a bit today: 30min here, 30min there. On the last 5 minutes of my final 30 minute drive I noticed that it was starting to overheat again. I had been driving normal except for the last 10-15 minutes of the drive because I wanted to open it up a bit. I popped the hood and noticed my overflow was full.

I also noticed that my charge piping by the turbo, along with the compressor wheel, were cool enough to be touched with the bare hand.

No your headgasket is not fine. Just because you have good compression it doesn't mean you don't have a small leak in your headgasket. I should know....i went through 4 headgaskets on my y8 before people discovered the p2p timing maps and how much less timing they ran. Mine did the same exact thing as yours where it would push coolant under boost...eventually it would get worse and start pushing coolant even out of boost after driving around for a little while. The reason it wasn't doing it on 5psi is because 5psi requires almost no timing retard from the stock maps...even though you were still probably running too much timing with that p28 ecu.

yea you could be right. but its getting all new gaskets so..

im making sure i do everything the right way this time..

anyways, why do you think i was running below 10:1 afr under full boost? he said probably because coolant was entering the combustion chamber?? it was blowing any white smoke though, just alot of black/grayish smoke. i then asked him if he tried to take away fuel and he said yea, i tried everything. then when i got home, i looked at his maps and no fuel was taken out....

I don't see why he couldn't get it to run leaner. I mainly tune uberdata/crome/hondata type stuff and have never messed with emange so i couldn't help you out much with that.

This "tuner" doesn't sound like he has all of his marbles.

me niether.. i guess because he didnt even try.

i dont know if ill go back there or not.. he is the only official greddy emanage tuner with a dyno around here that i know of. i was told by a few people that he was good.

i may just tune this myself on the street or on a dyno. emanage isnt really that hard to tune and its good enough for the 10psi im running.. now if i ever go higher than that in the future, i will go hondata, chrome, or uber..

Yea I don't doubt at all that you could make a safe tune with emanage for yourself using a wideband. It shouldn't be hard at all. Thats what I would do if I were you.

yup i have everything to tune it, support tool, laptop, wideband, every gauge known to man.

its just that i thought i would feel better to take it to a "professional" and not worry about the hassle of it.
