Re: Dyno comparison: Skunk2 Pro 1's vs CTR camshafts
i'm glad i didnt get the R cams.
Im going to do a comparison from stock GSR cams to skunk2 cams. to see the difference. Tony will be tuning me though
Im amazed Jeff, thanks again
BTW-when did they start the new version? or when did they make it a "drop in cam"? found a deal on a set with gears but i would rather get the drop in cams

Re: Dyno comparison: Skunk2 Pro 1's vs CTR camshafts
I know I'm bringing this post back from the dead but I recently saw a post by skunk2Brian that said S2 has not released or redesigned the pro1 camshafts. This thread is still researched and talked about daily in this forum and I felt that was important information that people need to know before they spend hard earned money. I pm'd skunk2brain about this thread as well as mine talking about the daily driving with pro1s located here https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/daily-driver-s2-pro1-2797952/ There seems to be some confusion at least on my part if a newer version is out or not.

Re: Dyno comparison: Skunk2 Pro 1's vs CTR camshafts
False statement and clearly biased.
As for the release of the 'Version 3' cams that I DO HAVE that install at 0,0. I do have them. I have no idea what's going on with Skunk 2 that they are denying this claim, however, the boxes my cams came in had this version on them. The cams on the first page showing a 65 whp gain at the same PSI are Pro 1 cams that I DID NOT DEGREE IN. Actually, the car ran like **** when we did degree them in, so we put them back to 0,0. There was a conversation that was held with a engineer at Skunk2 verifying the cams I had were real.
My guess is that something happened during the engineering at Skunk2 and either the cams I got (and a few other people) are a mistake and freaks of nature, or they have another reason why they are denying this.
Unfortunately, when I sold my ITR cams, I shipped them in the boxes my Pro 1cams came in. If I could remember who bought my ITR cams, I'd reach out to them to see if they still had the boxes.

You don't want the BC stg2 turbo cams they will lose power if your looking for something similar to pro1 you should look at BC stg2 n/a cams. They work really well just don't have the midrange the pro1s have. I read all of this on Jeff Evans website so do some searching there.

Here's the post by Skunk2Brian May 2010
Just wanted to let you know that there have been no revisions to the Pro Series line of camshafts as of yet. I too have been told that there may be changes to those centerlines in a future batch however as of yet that has not occurred.
Be careful with those quick settings as you need to make sure you understand what 1 mark represents on your chosen cam gears. Allmotor was correct in that you want a 4° separation between the intake and the exhaust with the exhaust being advanced, however to the best of my knowledge the only cam gears out there in which 1 mark on the gear = 1° of cam timing are our Pro Series gears. All other gears 1 mark = 2° of cam timing which would mean you would only want an advance of 2 marks on your exhaust gear.
Rest assured that when/if we do make that centerline change to the Pro Camshafts we will make a whole lot of noise about it so you all know.
If you ever have questions about setting up your camshafts you can call me at 951.808.9888 or post to our online HelpDesk.

What's really going on here?

Re: Dyno comparison: Skunk2 Pro 1's vs CTR camshafts
I had 2 separate customers that had the pro 1's with the "v3" on the box that ran perfectly at 0,0. When i tried to set the centerlines around were I normally do the cars ran horrible. I have no reason to make things up, personally I could care less, but I have seen the "v3" with my own eyes on the cam box.

Jeff, I'm not acusing you of making things up. I'm just trying to find the truth. I bought skunk2 pro1 based off this thread and I can not get mine to idle at 900 my idle is steady at 1300-1400. I don't believe I have the v3 cams I like the power they produce but hate the drivability.

I don't doubt that at all and I fully expected it but driving the car everyday it starting to bother me. I reread this thread and compared our setups, my setup is similar to his but my cams had to be degreed.
