Default Daily Driver on S2 PRO1

Hey guys I currently have S2 pro1 in my DD civic and honestly I hate the drivability of these things. My car idles high 1300-1400 rpm, it was okay when I first installed them but its getting on my nerves now. Once I'm on the highway the engine will burp between 2800-3500rpm. My tuner told me welcome to the world of PRO1 camshaft. I started this thread to get a feel for what other people thought of these in DD capacity. The cams do make power but I'm thinking of switching to S2 Stg1 or go over to see what Web Cam has to offer. Any suggestions?

Live with it.. or get a DD.

I have a large Kelford cam in my DSM, and it idles like poo. Haha.

I have custom web cams, they don't idle too bad. I was having a lot of issues, but I tracked it down to my Blox throttle body needing some love. I'm not a real big fan of the pro1's at all.

I agree, get a new tuner who can make the cams smaller.

High but steady. If it's lower then it's not steady and dies from time to time, typical of a big cam.

Disregard my previous post I found this post by Skunk2Brain that says Skunk2 has not redesigned the cams at all. This was posted May 2010

Be careful with those quick settings as you need to make sure you understand what 1 mark represents on your chosen cam gears. Allmotor was correct in that you want a 4° separation between the intake and the exhaust with the exhaust being advanced, however to the best of my knowledge the only cam gears out there in which 1 mark on the gear = 1° of cam timing are our Pro Series gears. All other gears 1 mark = 2° of cam timing which would mean you would only want an advance of 2 marks on your exhaust gear.

Rest assured that when/if we do make that centerline change to the Pro Camshafts we will make a whole lot of noise about it so you all know.

If you ever have questions about setting up your camshafts you can call me at 951.808.9888 or post to our online HelpDesk.

Tony is right. I have the S2 Pro 1's and my car idles nicely and drives like a stock car around town or on the highway. Jeff tuned my car, but both Tony and Jeff are considered amongst the best tuners out there. I think you just need someone with a little more experience.

I know your post was 1 of reason I bought pro1s but according to your post you have a new version that doesn't need degreeing. I'm trying to get the truth whether a new version really exists or not. I'll call skunk2 today.

LOL, I was joking, I tuned this car. I've had extremely varied results with Pro 1 cams, and we degree every set we install, or used to install. Some idle ok, some idle like crap. Some made decent power, some didn't. There seems to be some incosistency in them from what i've seen.

I already called them since my car is the one on their site, etc. Let me handle it please and I'll make a post for all to see when I get off the phone with them later today. I'm awaiting a call back from a engineer now.

Nice we'll finally get a good answer from S2. Jeff posted on your original thread confirming that indeed the v3 idles much better and don't need degreeing.
