Default is it safe?

I am in need of a tune, but in order for that i am going to have to get my car to Atlanta from augusta to do that. Now my question is, im running DSM 450cc w/resistor box and no adjustable FPR. Can I put my stock gsr injectors in and run at less than 5lbs of boost and not get on it to drive it to a shop for tune? My car has already been tuned on crome for N/A but now im going boost. So all i really need is a base map done so i can run all this, which is my second choice. But so far no luck unless I fork out some money to have a base map emailed to me from a shop to ensure im coming to them for a tune, which really isnt a prob, but im not gonna do this until the end of the month.

Thanks in advance for the comments,
Mike

Just don't get on it, put stock injectors in and you'll be fine. You won't build boost unless you really get on it, how far is the shop by the way ?

I'd say put the stock injectors back in, DO NOT get on the car while driving, just drive like an old lady and you will be fine. I'm not familiar with Crome but if you are able to edit it with having to burn to the chip I'd say run the 450's and just make adjustments to the fuel table.

I made a 60 mile journey this weekend on my untuned setup running 1000 cc injectors. I just did some datalogging and added fuel before the trip and kept the revs under 4200. Got there with no issues!

Good luck!

Holy carp! yea just drive sensible and you SHOULD be ok.
Do you have a wideband? If so monitor and make changes as needed if you can.
Also if you feel it breaking up or stumbling get out of it!
Might want to take some plugs with you too just in case.
Have a friend ride with you or follow you too!

easiest way ever is what i did

take off your blow off valve, put on your stock injectors and just drive it normally to your tuner. dont drive like a jackass. i kept it under 50% throttle and under 4k rpms and drove 2 hours to get my car ready, and then another hour to my tuner this way and it worked for me just fine.

WTH!
Please ignore those suggesting that you take things off, this is a silly idea and will only cause problems. YOU WILL NOT HIST BOOST as long as you keep your throttle to a minimum! DO NOT, DO NOT take anything off!

YES, you can use your current chip/tune and make adjustments to it, probably the easiest way.

Do you have a wideband? If not I would recommend you contact the tuner and ask for help, they should send you a base map for free!

Would be the best if you do not have a wide band and aren't comfortable tuning it yourself.
If you have the ability to datalog, record some logs and send them to him as well. This will help better tailor the tune to your setup.

I would highly suggest that you invest $250 into getting an Innovate LC-1 wide band unit. This could potentially save you motor in the long run as you can monitor conditions and it would help the tuner a lot as well!

Anywhere, just go to Ebay and type Innovate LC-1.
Even the AEM wide band would be sufficient.

unscrewing a bov hardly sounds like doing any work. in the off chance that he accidentally goes into boost, this 5 min. of work could save him. Its really not that big of a deal. Taking off the bov would guarantee you wont make any boost for the drive.

Yeh, just dont hit boost. I would get a wide band to see what your AFR is at all times. If you don't beat it on you should be fine.

It would also be ingesting unfiltered air for two hours...also could possibly overspeed the turbo, not certain about this, they spin pretty ****in fast anyway. I guess it would have oil pressure to the turbo, so dunno...

i hear you on the unfiltered air part, all i did was take wire mesh and clamp it around the hole so nothing big would get in there, car still runs fine. As far as overspeeding the turbo i doubt that would happen unless hes on the throttle which he shouldnt be anyways.
