i didn't use a collector but i made the dump tube flare into the dp....i ran the open wg before and hated the sound it made...oh ya i still have ac and ps...every thing works great didn't even have to wrap the ac lines...but i think i'm gonna redo them so you can't see them hopefully that will clean up the bay

I have a "closed system". I don't mind the sound either way. I just have it this way. Unlike lucidvtec, I don't have have an AC yet. I'm considering installing one. Anyway, here's my setup:

Just a note: I installed a Tial 38 mm wastegate (7 psi) instead of the Delagate (shown in the picture above) last night. The Tial wastegate performed amazingly, so far!

keep your eyes out for boost creep. thats a horrible wastegate entrance into the downpipe, you're better off open dumping.

I actually did have boost creeps. I changed the wastegate last night and boost was holding up. On the other hand, you have a very good point. I will look into where should the dumptube go. Any suggestions?

i was runnin 10psi ..with the tial wasgate on the drag kit...no creep at all...i'll have to wait and see what it's like when i'm runnin high boost...i swear it sounds way better than runnin a open wg...some dude stoped me one day in a f-250...told me my turbo was louder than his..said he could hear me spoolin behind him...lol

You have an internal wastegate turbo. You would have to try to external dump it.

This conversation is about external wastegates. External wastegates are more difficult to run closed-loop and IMO a lot of people are just too lazy to do it. (But I gained 10 hp with my open dump! Sure, but you could have gotten 10 hp out of a closed dump by slightly increasing the size of your exhaust)

iunno the lazy man's route is divorced internal wastegate, it sounds pretty sick, but can't touch a nice 38+ tial. the pic of TJ R's downpipe, the wastegate is entering too soon and causes velocity disturbance and the air can build up and get in the way of the turbo forcing air out at maximum rate. your best bet is to run the wastegate dump along the downpipe and re-enter 18-24" away at a very steady 45-30 degree angle, not 90'ed into the downpipe.

Thanx Chuck Norris for the feedback. An open dumptube looks to be the solution. I'll just check where it could exit.
