Default Dump tube?'s

Okay I got my new tial wastegate on and I had to reweld the dump tube. So I rewelded it and drove about 200 some miles. Well I went to show my friend the tube and my nice weld job and it was gone. I have no idea how it could have fell off. I had it welded the whole way around no tack welded on. Is there anyway the heat could have melted the welds? I know it sounds stupid but i have no clue how it could have just fell off. It was not hitting anything. Has this ever happened to anyone or did my weld just not hold? Thanks for the help.

wtf?! sorry to laugh...it sounds too funny. take it back to the place and demand a new 1! it is possible, if the material they used to do the welds could not stand up to the heat. but i have enevr heard of anything like this at all.

I know I was like how the hell could this happen. The dump tube worked fine on my old wastegate but I had to cut the tube and turn it 90 degrees and reweld it so it would work with this new wastgate. I cleaned it very well and then welded it. I then filed some of the excess weld off b/c I kind of suck *** at welding and the tube felt solid. You should have seen how surprised I was when I went to show my friend my nice weld job and how I had the tube run. He is like yeah it looks great I can not even see the tube at all.

Sounds like the welds did not pentatrate the flange. Were they both the same material, mild steel I would guess. Take it back to whome ever did this and make them fix it. THat is just rediculous.

I may actually have a pic of it before it fell off. I did not hear it fall off which is wierrd b/c it should have hit the motor or the ic piping or traction bars. As far as taking it back I am the person who welded it so that does me no good. I already yelled at myself and kicked my own ***. I got some more piping at the auto store I am just wondering why it did not hold b.c it will be a pain in the *** if everytime I drive my car I have to weld a new dump tube on.
