Default wastegate confusion

okay here is the deal. i understand the whole concept of a wastegate but i'm confused about how it is hooked up. i realize that you have to modify or buy a manifold that will allow for an external wastegate, but when the wastegate starts to bleed off exhaust where does it go. do you have to fabricate a new downpipe that will accept this or do you just let it go into open air. i realize that these gases are very hot and wouldn't releasing them into your engine compartment be a very bad thing. any help would be appreciated. pictures would be the best.
thanks

u have 2 options... u can either attatch basically a pipe to it and "dump it out the bottom of the car (hence a "dump tube") or u can re-route it back in to the downpipe... the latter is the legal way to do it... otherwise when u just dump it... u are venting the exhaust gasses straight to the atmosphere...

imo... i like vented better

vented is kinda loud but you get used to it. ART from this board is making some dp for people that will reroute the exhaust gas from the dump tube back to the exhaust. Its pretty kewl dp actually well worth the money from him.
