Curious about the need for a dump pipe. I'm piecing my kit together and wondering if I need a dump pipe? I know the downpipe goes to the cat, the dump pipe either connects to the downpipe or simply exits into the air. I'm buying a tial wastegate and just wondering if I need the dump pipe as well?

 

Yes, you will want a pipe to direct the hot air out from the engine bay. Most of the time, the pipe needs to be fabricated for good fitment.

you dont want black soot all over your engine bay..

 

make sure the the exhaust exiting the wastegate tube isnt directed to near your oil return line. and keep it away from your intake. if you suck in exhaust it will kill your power.

 

Dump tube straight down to the atmosphere.
Make one out of a mcdonalds bathroom railing...

also agree on fab to fit. for some reason the kit pipes never quite fit right. couple i've seen could have been improved. the engine bay is so tight that 1/4" sometimes is the difference between fit and oh F'k
