Default Driving 5 hours on a hondata basemap, bad idea?

I piecing together a turbo kit for my car, and Im really having a hard time figuring out what to do for engine management.

The problem is that I live in bumblefuck Idaho. The nearest good Hondata tuners are 5 hours away in any direction really. Obviously I need to get my car there some how when I want it tuned so I would have to drive on the basemap.

Would this be safe?

yeah its ok as long as you dont push the motor hard. bad tunes break motors when under hard load.

you could also drive there on the stock ecu then pop in new injectors etc when u get there. obviously you couldnt push the motor hard with the stock ecu either but it would have the proper AFRs for cruising.

Alright cool. I heard that Hondata's basemaps are actually pretty good in the first place.

yeah Ive been to ISR but since everyone from there is from southern idaho I never made an account.

I was thinking of driving 5 hours to Portland to get my car tuned at Torque Freaks. Portland can be done in around 4 hours but thats hauling *** and Im not going to do that on a basemap.

In 2002, I drove 6 hours to SLC on my turbo B16A with a Mugen program chipped PR3. But I took out the spring for the wastegate so it wouldnt boost. lol... when I got to SLC the inside of my engine bay was black and my hood release cable was melted.
