Default Drawbacks to running near zero boost?

I've got a 97HX with higher miles... Recent articles and threads I've read have me convinced I can boost (t25) for under 1K. 80% of the time I'll drive it like Mr. Roger's grandmother...

Drawbacks to running an adjustable boost controller, and dialing it down to near zero for daily driving? Is this possible? Or, is keeping shift point below the boost range more pratical?

I'd like the engine to last, until I decide on it's replacement... Was thinking 6lbs max (should develop around 150-60hp?)?

Thanks guys...

I believe you can't go below the spring set PSI. Someone correct me if I am wrong, sides you'll only get full boost if you romp on the gas and run it through the RPMs, just drive normally, shift before 4k RPM, and you should be fine.

doesnt matter if boost controller is set to 6 psi or 20 psi. you can daily drive without hitting boost. you just have to learn to be light with the gas and control ur foot. i've gone days without ever even going into boost.

I suspected this, needed to hear it from people who know - thanks man.

I just want the engine to last a while - and if I shift under 3K, I get 40+mpg in town - nice little bonus :D

Guess I'm off to find a mitsu T25
