Drag Gen4 Prelude/Hondata Pics and Dyno
ok. here are some pics of a Gen 4 Drag Kit with Hondata.
Basics: GE Sleeves/Arias 9:1/Crowers
16.3PSI 94octane 387WHP SAE corrected. Tried for 18.5psi but got some sputtering, etc. perhaps octane or plug gap related. closed the gap and ran fine at 18psi on the street.
pics and graphs below.
Bad news...oil fouling in No.4 piston found after blowing smoke today while driving. Compression still good at 190 all 4. Likely headgasket.
Oh...GE forgot to O-ring the block.
10psi with VTEC at 4800 and butterflies at 4500
16.3psi dip corrected by VTEC at 5000 and butterflies at 4900

This car is put together real nice. I was lucky enough to be the one doing the dyno pulls and it pulls damn hard. It is depressing going from my dyno(203whp) right before that to 387whp in Torin's car.

the car was essentially as perfect as you can get it. Now it looks like the motor is coming out again. I can't believe after all this, built up to prevent blowing the motor, and now the motor blows after only a couple weeks.

Re: (9psiTurboSI)
thanks!
well,
i was hoping to be done with this project and enjoy it for a few yrs. false hope.
i'm gonna have to tear out the engine again. I think it will have to be done over the winter. i think while i'm at it, i'll have the stock head redone and built up as well, get some Teins put in and have GE redo the block correctly and carefully this time.

Re: (thehondabuddy)
dont know why it blew. wasnt doing anything extraordinary. Jeeze, its built to boost. Total cost....a lot.
I am hoping GE will take back the block and redo it.
They forgot the oil squirters and initial startup the oil pressure plummeted as it warmed up and the oil thinned out.... then they sent me oil squirters and things looked ok, rod bearings at least looked ok.
Then the engine seemed a bit noisy, sounded like mild piston slap. Vince told me "if it sounds quiet thats when he worries because that means tolerances are too tight". I believed it since Arias are known to have a bit of slap. Who knows...
At this point all I know is I have oil in one cylinder, seems no mixing of coolant and oil, and compression equal on all 4 cylinders. I dont know if its worth trying to do a leakdown test or just bite the bullet and pull the motor and consider this my winter project.
Then I would build up the head, put in some coilovers and be even happier next spring.

Re: (GruvyTune)
why woudl ur setup cost a lot? isn't it just a Drag 4 kit? which runs around what 3000 i believe? how much did u pay for your rods, pistons and sleeves together?
