Default doing track burnouts in second gear?????

OK when i got\ to the track i always heat up my drag radials with a about 7-10 secs of first gear. however i have been reading that first gear is not enought to heat up tires to there full use. any ideas on this guys? what do you guys do? also i have always been scared of breaking an axle if i do a burn out in second. is this realy an issue? thanks

Yes if you realy want them hot second gear. You wil not breack a shaft on the burn out stay on the water and you wil be fine

2nd gear is the only way to heat em up right. i do a quick spin in the water to get em wet. once they are wet they spin easier and i pull out of the water box, put it in 2nd and drop it at 6500. basically i just heat them till i see smoke coming into the cabin. turn the wheel back an forth to get the whole tire hot. w/ BFG's and a burn out like this, u can hit 2.0 60fts with ur legs being asleep.

sweet, well i have a set of bfg older drag radial (the say "Comp TA Drag Radial" on the side and a set of nitto 555r's. The bfgs are 225/45/14 on a 6 1/2 inch rim. the nittos are brand new and almost the same total size of my 17's. what ones should i race on? reason im so worried about this is its the last time the track will be open this year up here. Also with the second gear burn out, do you stay in the water or just ride threw it and then burn the tires? Also my best 6ft's to date ins a 2.5. so i gotta get better than that. thanks guys

I won ugliest NAWZ equipped VW for my white car with graphics all over it. That was at Drag Wars in the desert. Got beat by an S2000 though. I pushed the nitro button too soon.

How exactly does first not warm them up? I can hold aburnout in first gear for as long as I want and there is nice thick clouds of smoke coming from the tires...all I do is hold the revs at about 5000 and the tires just keep spinning.....
