Default Does turbo limit your rev??

i have a b16 and could easily rev past 8500 all motor. threw on my turbo the other weak and my car is hella faster now. but, i can only rev up to around 7800 then it kinna feels laggy and my car starts back firing. i'm only boosting 5lbs on a t3 .60/.63 am i boosting too little or sumtin? or is my turbo too small? why can't i still rev up to 8500?

Being lean is really bad for your engine, although being rich isn't good for it either. IMO I would get an inline pump. That's how I used to run mine before I got a standalone.

If worse comes to worst, you can always buy my RC 440s. But I would try an inline pump.

take it to a dyno / shop that knows what their doing. you got problems. and "chipped" ecu might be a bad thing (timing advanced).

the way you're engine is set up now....it probly wont last long.

the back firing and sputtering can be caused by the o2 sensor too.

to counter the advanced timing by the ecu i retarded my distributer all the way back. is that good enuff? oh and i'm also running a vafc could i use that to richin it up at around 7700+ or my feul pump just can't keep up? or would i be better off getting some dsm injectors and resistor box. wat would be the better choice inline feul pump or dsms with resistors? thanks for all the help so far guys.

i have no way of knowing, but i wouldnt be comfortable with that.

man, you need some serious fuel. There is NO WAY a stock fuel pump is going to be able to supply enough pressure for a 12:1 fmu.
do not boost until you do something, or else your motor will live a very short and very unhappy life.

IMO, the best thing for you to do is to pick up a resister box and DSM injectors and run the hack, since you already have a vafc. You can pick both up cheap, and you'll be able to run your stock fuel pump for the time being.

being stoich is bad(detonation ,egt raise) running very lean will make you feel
lose alote of power( egt will go down, pop pop sound, no detonation)you engine is still safe when you are VERY lean!!!

DO you have to put the inline pump along with the intake one? Or put out the intake one and running just with the inline. Or using both?

Too much retard on timing will cause the problem you are describing. You need help from a local tuner.

Listen to this guy if you want a blown up motor.

Just go buy some used 450cc injectors off of a dsm message board guy, and buy a resistor box. Don't bother with the inline pump and stock injectors.

u r detonating. thats no good. very very NO good.

sounds like u got fuel AND timing issues. dont do things ghetto. put a stock ecu in and set base timing to 14 deg. Get an Inline fuel pump to go w/ that 12:1 FMU. ur lucky u havnt blown it up yet.

remember how i had my polarities backwards on my fuel pump when i first went turbo? my car was back firing and sputtering at 6k +, the tach basically stopped moving when it hit 6k. it was NOT rich.

It seems perfectly obvious that you need more fuel...either an inline pump (which is crap) or just buy the 450cc injectors and a resistor box for LESS than the pump and have a more reliable set-up. Also, get rid of that chipped ecu, 99% of them are BULLSHIT, especially for a turbo car.

I used to use a FMU and a MSD with boost retard for my fuel and timing needs. I also had an inline pump. Whenever I would back the timing off too much the car would misfire like crazy once I hit around 6k. If you have your timing retarded all the way I think that is a part of the problem. Most poeple are able to retard the timing 3 degrees and run more than 5 psi as long as the fuleing needs are met. I would at least upgrade my fuel pump if I were you and also dyno the car. They will be able to set the timing at the safest setting that gives you the most power. Oh yeah also install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator along with a guage.
